what?meworry?

i put a best guess list of juniors on the other thread.
seniors:
manon/omeara
nitake/chassman (may sit out a season since he's jumping from novice)
goodwin/bommentre
(?)matthews/zavozin (but see post below - listed on junior, too)*
gibbons/pekarak
galler-rabinowitz/mitchell
(?)lang/tchnerychev (pending reliable information re gp withdrawal)**
belbin/agosto
gregory/petukhov
nussear/forsythe
navarro/shmalo (confirmed by usfsa.org article 6-12)
may/latyshev (added per note below)
moxley/kirsanov (assigned nebehorn trophy 9/3-7)
(wester/barantsev can't compete this year)
(*)look at the "ice dance teams thread for updated postings on 6-11 for
details.
(**)isu has removed l/t from the grand prix series. (21 days and 18,500 hits on the thread where the news broke and no official announcement from usfsa or l/t or their representative(s) to date---7/3. nor has isu reinstated them in the gp series as of the 6/20 revision.) usfsa has not removed l/t from the international assignments to date.
there is really no competition here since the top teams get a bye to nationals. just about every senior team gets to nationals (last year only one was left out.
other "also rans" may pop up, of course.
this probably should be added to the other "teams" thread, but senior is usually boring until the debates over rankings at internationals and nationals get going.

Moxley/Kirsanov should probably be included in the list of senior teams.

To junior teams add Andrew McCrary and Ashira Prosack(sp??)
To senior..I do not believe that Moxley and Kirsanov are competing this year. Also, add May and Latyshev.

What about the Youngs, wasn't it posted that they were back training and planning to compete this season?

And as for Jr. teams? Who will be at lake placid.
what?meworry?
06-10-2003, 11:56 PM
the junior teams list is under the thread "ice dance teams" and this probably should be too.
that said, probably all of them will be at lake placid except for those teams who recieve 2 junior grand prix assignments immediately (just a guess):
matthews/zavozine (they will compete senior, but are jgp eligible)
donowick/unger (very close 4th at nationals)
pratt/gilles (1st place novice at nationals)
devins/okeefe (5th at nationals)*
davis/white (7th at nationals)* corrected per post (the 6th team split)
there are a total of 8 junior grand prix competitions, each team selected normally receives 2 assignments.
however, in previous years they've assigned some only one for the experience. other years, the assignments were made to all 8 teams right away.
and last year, they assigned a couple teams two jgp's but others (including 5th/6th ranked teams) got one and were assigned a second only after seeing the results---ranking fourth or higher in their first jgp, would earn an automatic second assignment.
(*) ?---this year the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th place junior teams split.

Davis and White were 7th, not 6th, at Nationals.
Also, Donowick and Ungar will be at Lake Placid, and Matthews and Zavozin will be staying junior.

correction made on the original post. thanks.
on a list posted by icedancesk8er, matthews/zavozin had noted next the the team "(tested senior)" see the 4-13-03 posted list on the "ice dance teams" thread.
we probably need to hear from icedancesk8er regarding level confidence in that testing information, since testing their senior freedance is pretty definate. they can't go back as a team. (only partners who split up and who have not actually competed at the higher freedance tested level may go back with a different partner).
prior to that there was only speculation that they were moving up.
i can see that they'd do that with the 2nd and 3rd teams having split, a second junior title should be easy pickin's for them!
the only junior teams that won't be at lake placid are those who have been awarded 2 junior grand prix assignments right away. i doubt that donowick/unger will make the trip if they get 2 assignments---why take the time out of training?

on the other thread, trillian noted that they are not included in this year's team elvelope, and there was discussion that they would not continue after nationals.

I understand that Kirsanov is still waiting for a release from his original NGB.

According to their new official site, Pratt and Gilles will be at Lake Placid:

i doubt any team that recieves two international assignments will make the trip, but usfsa hasn't made any assignments at all yet!

just made very minor edit but wanted to move this senior list up to see if anyone had any new information to share.

I believe someone noted on the Unseen Skaters Board (http://www.unseenskaters.com/board) (or was it here?) that Stephanie Ellis and Ian Ross-Frye are scheduled to skate a junior exhibition at an upcoming club competition. Since Ross-Frye isn't eligible to actually compete as a junior, is it possible we'll see these two in senior competition next season?

what exhibition are ellis/ross-frye doing and where? that will be interesting to see if they compete senior level next season.

As I said in the other ice dance thread, Stacey Carter is skating with Dimitri ? and will probably skate junior, and they are going to Placid.

i've sworn off listing (?)sombodies.
evans/(?)somebody is off the junior list soon.
but if anyone can supply a last name (and hopefully the section(s) i'll post the new team on "the list" on the other thread!
also, i haven't listed elllis/ross-frye yet. hopefully someone who goes to the exhibition reports back that they're planning to be a team and going to lake placid.

just popped this up to note that moxley/kirsanov are off "the endangered team" list since they have recieved an assignment to the nebehorn trophy in germany 9/3-7.
the senior list has been edited accordingly.

What could possibly be the hold up for Kirsanov? Also, can anyone elaborate on the process involved?
Thanks

(*)equally reliable reports have them in junior or having tested their senior fd.
note: lang/tchernyshev have been removed from the list. isu has removed l/t from the grand prix series. (21 days and 18,500 hits on the thread where the news broke and no official announcement from usfsa or l/t or their representative(s) to date---7/3. nor has isu reinstated them in the gp series as of the 6/20 revision.) usfsa has not removed l/t from the international assignments to date. yet there are consistent reports from reasonable people of their public statements to the effect that they will not continue as a competitive team in the future.
