Does anyone know what advantages (if any, besides better seats) there are to spending the extra money for the VIP tickets??

More than likely it is just for better seats although I'm not 100% sure of that. Maybe you get in some sort of fan club, LOL

I can't remember where I saw this, but someone said that the VIP tickets are the first SIX rows. I don't think I'd pay that much extra money for the difference between row 6 and row 7.

It probably depends on the arena. I got tix for next year's COI at MCI Center in D.C. and I got 6th row for the non-VIP price. Since I ordered the minute they went on sale, I suspect the first 5 rows are designated VIP there. When I saw the VIP option, I thought about it for about a half second and decided no way - I'm as big a skating fan as there could be but I have to draw the line somewhere - before the $95 I would have to spend for VIP tix.

I don't think they are anything more than good seats with a fancy name. ;-)
