Yesterday Lina got the little achievment medal for swedish athletes. Every year one athlete who have done some extraordinary get the medal. Lina got the little one for athletes up to 20 years old. And she is only 14!! This is so big because figureskating is not a big sport in sweden. Last year Carolina Kluft get the award. This year she became the European champion athletics.
Lina - the biggest talent swedish figureskating have seen.
Lina Johansson i swedish figureskating´s big hope for the future. The little bragd gold will help her to achieve her dreams:- You can be best in the world even if you are from Sweden,´she says.
Yesterday the award was handed out for the 10th time. Lina Johansson was nearly in chock when we surprised her with the award at the Swedish teams national camp yesterday.
- What, is it true? Did I get $5000!! Oh thank you very much. This will help me with my training, she says and her national colleges congratulates her.
Lina is only 14 years old, but already one of the best juniors in the world.
Her achievments this winter told us that she can be a world star - if she continue to progress in the same speed. - We have never had a so big talent in Sweden. Lina has everything on the right place. Her best is her will to practise and her ambition is unic. She also have the right body for figureskating, Ela her coach says. Ela has been Lina´s coach since Lina was 6 years old and Ela picked her to figureskating from the hockey school. First she thougt that she was a boy. Already when she was seven years old was she competing against older girls and was a success.
This winter she got her international breakthrough. First she was number 2 on the europeans olympic days in Slovenia and later number 8 on junior worlds, Swedens biggest achievment for 50 years. And both times she competed against girls who was up to 5 years older.
- It was the first time I competed junior world becaus I was to little before. Next year I am allowed to compete as a senior because I will be 15 years old this fall. It will be so exciting! I will try to get the swedish spots to Europeans and Worlds. She has had a very lucky week. First she was noticed that she was in for the Swedish olympic committes talent program for olympic 2006. - It will mean everything to me. I will have better help with camp, medical treatments and stuffs. It is very important. In Malmö there is 5 icehalls, but it is always the icehockey who get first hand.As figureskater it is not ice to get icetime. But I am not planning to move to another country to practise, I will stay in Sweden. There I is secure and safe and has my family.
Ice time is a big swedish problem. Lina who goes in 8th grade in local scholl use to practise before and after school. Practise on ice are mixed up with strength training and ballet lessons.
Now she don´t have any icetime in Sweden, because all icehall is closing in may. She longth after the fall when she can skate in Malmö again. But this summer she will be two weeks on camp in Sweden and four weeks in Flims in Switzerland (there she trains for Kudriatsev.) Lina already have five different tripples in her program. The tripple axel will be a goal in the future and she has already been close to land one. Quads- who almost no one does - is also planned for the future. She know what she have to achieve to become best in the world.
Her idol is Irina Slutskaya for her high and clean jumps. - It was very fun and learning to look at the Europeans in Malmö this year. I learned a lot, but I wanted to compete so badly. Next year she will be one of them, she hopes.
-It is now al the fun things begin.....
