I thought they were not--but they are on the GP list, yet someone also noted that are supposed to be on Kurt's tour when they are also supposed to be at Skate Canada.

Elena & Anton are skating in SOI next season. The word is that they plan to do one GP event to maintain their eligibility. So they won't be doing any GP event that conflicts with the SOI schedule. I understand that they are headliners for Kurt's show, so clearly they won't be doing Skate Canada.

What I don't understand is why they need to do a GP even to maintain their eligibility? I didn't think this was a requirement. Does anyone have a good grasp of eligibility requirements?

I guess the reason why is because it's ISU rules (of course, what happens if you're injured the entire season? Are you no longer eligible?). I believe Todd Eldridge only did Skate Canada(?) in the 1998/1999 season.

I think it's more that if you want to do any Pro Am's (and maybe tours?) you have to do one GP event. (I think nationals plays in there? I can't remember) But say you dissapeared off the face of the planet for a year, it wouldn't be a problem, so long as there were no tours or pro am's. Thus no GP events.

And as a completely unrelated note, i wish it was still called the Champion Series.

But thats just me.

Lol, Andora.

I prefer the name "Grand Prix" myself.

But I wouldn't really care.

I said something to a friend of mine about the Grand Prix being in St Petersburg in February and she said, "Won't all those cars just slide around on the snow and ice?"
