Well another years Stars on Ice is over and done!! And honestly, if you didn't get to go, don't cry about it. It was a well done show, but I think Champions on Ice would be better this year. There was just a lack of skaters. Sure there were big names, but still...it was missing something. I was gonna take notes, but then I got bored...so here's what I can recall.

Jamie & Dave: I'm their biggest fan usually - but not tonight. They skated great, they felt the music, they got the audience involved, but I don't know. Maybe it's their programs, but I didn't get too excited. Awesome throws tonight though!!

Elena & Anton: Alright. I hate them. But tonight...tonight I gave it to them over J&D. They did an Elvis number and it was so cute. I was totally in love with her dress and they did one throw triple loop in which my mouth fell OPEN. It was amazing. Spectacular. They're great live!

Isabelle Brasseur & Lloyd Eisler: Wow. My boyfriend even liked them!!! He thought the headbanger move was cool. But yeah. They did their first number to a Jimmy Eat World song and got the audience all pumped and involved. Their second number was a song about being friends - it was cute. Their lifts are crazy amazing. They sure gained a fan tonight.

Jenn Robinson: I've always loved Jenn's skating, and tonight it was on. She's a joy to watch on the ice, her presentation is far beyond most senior women these days. I love her layback, and I love that when she skates you can see she's having fun and enjoying herself. She landed a triple lutz, and a 2-footed triple flip. Good for her!!!

Todd Eldredge: The best of the best. Tonight he captivated me, and I was in amazement. Eyes wide open for sure. His spins are SO amazing...and you know what else? He landed a triple axel. If Michelle can win worlds without a triple/triple, why can't Todd win without a quad. Sigh. He's amazing to watch on the ice....too bad he's funny looking ;)

Alexei Yagudin: Don't know what happened...he wasn't great tonight. Sort of slow and sluggish - I'd give it to him that he had an injury, but if he attempted his stupid quad toe one more time I would have given him an injury alright! Anyways, program (he only did one) has potential, and he's cute...so I enjoyed him.

Steven Cousins: He's a hottie with a body, and I wish he was younger. He skated to "Born to be Wild" and some other song (I can't remember). He's got great audience attention keeping skills, and still skates with ease.

Kurt Browning: Gotta love Kurt. He made the show, and without him...well, it woulda sucked. He did a number to "My Favourite Things" with a brown paper box (I don't get how they go together). Anyhow, it was good. Then he skated with his skateguards on, in another program and it was super fly. Made me laugh - and some old man got his skateguards. I wonder what he's doing with them...I wish I had them.

Anyways. There were some group numbers, and Jenn and Jamie have a real good ice presence. Just wanted to add that. The group numbers weren't anything special, but I had fun.

Thanks for the great review, Kortney! Kurt's "My Favourite Things" program made a little more sense when he first skated it last December: for the Holiday Festival On Ice show, he wore a red costume and the package was wrapped in Christmas paper.

BTW, since this was the last SOI show of the season, I wonder if that old man got to keep Kurt's skate guards permanently??

The brown paper package tied up with string is inspired by that very line from "My Favourite Things".

As for the old man who got the skate guards, I'd be willing to be that he was none other than Dewey Browning, Kurt's father!

Thanks for the review. Its rather intersting to read what others think about the show.

I personally thought that SOI this year was awesome !!! I enjoyed ever single part of the show !!! I don't think one can really compare SOI & COI ! I've been to a few COI shows in the past and for the money you spend for the show (that being in US dollars on top of that) I personally get entertained more attending a SOI show. But again 2 different show. But everyone has their own opinions.

It was missing Shae and Vic! I felt that too, but I still loved the show.

BTW, I was beginning to think, after reading so many reviews, that Studz was going to be overhyped, and that I because of my huge expectation for it that I would end up disapointed. I so wasn't. Studz was by far the highlight of the night. Especially when Kurts hat fell off, and then he did that little dance. He was looking right at our section.:D

That's interesting that you think that because I have some friends that went to a bunch of SOI this year and to 1 COI but much preferred SOI. I think they said that the interaction, group numbers, etc was so much better in SOI...but I guess it comes down to what kind of show you want to see and which skaters you most want to see.

My vision was blocked when Todd did his axel. Was it a triple??

It was one hundred percent a triple axel. I just about died ;)
I love that guy...:D:D:D:D:D

Edited to add: I guess you're right...it does come down to what kind of show you're looking for. I prefer the higher technical difficulty, do a solo number. I'm not into the group numbers all too much. I wish that the two tours would just join together...and be like Champions and Stars on Ice!!!

Oooh you would never see that happen at all !!! Champions On Ice & Stars On Ice are each others competition !!!!

I have to agree that the show was missing B&K but they have decided to tour with COI and signed a 4 year contract.

So tickled pink that they will be taking part in Kurt Browning's Gotta Skate tour however ! Looking forward to that in Oct.

One more thing I want to add ..... I was looking at pictures and saw a picture of Alexie Yagudin holding a mic. Just wondering what he said to the audience after the Vancouver show ?

Alexei was thanking the crowd, saying that it had been a great show...

He also made a joke about how he heard it had stopped raining!:D
