I realize this is frivolous, but it's a diversion. Add any others you think should be on the list too.

I had a co-worker who trained with Jeff and she thinks the world of him. She e-mails him and I said she should pass that e-mail along, haha. Well, Jeff's in the lead on the poll so it seems more than one person agrees with you. My bro-in-law met Brian and said he was super nice too. He seems to have a lot of friends among his fellow skaters.

Brian is a very nice guy...he's helpful, and give's great advice which is awesome!!:) I added Scott Hamilton to the list...he's way up there, in my opinion!

Can't believe I forgot Scott. I'll rectify that immediately! :) Yes, I've always heard that Brian is the nicest of the nice!

Jeff is such a sweetheart. In March, me and 3 of my friends went up to watch him practice at Mariposa. After the practice, he signed autographs for us and posed in pictures with us. He didn't have to stop and take time for his fans, but he did, and that was so great of him! He's so incredibly nice!

Oh, then you must be the person who voted 1500 times for him...

Seriously, polls like this (unlimited voting) just tell us which skaters have at least one fan with way too much time on his/her hands.

Most of the skaters I've met have been very nice. OTOH, I've met them in situations where they're expecting to meet fans, and I'm sure they're PR-conscious enough to know that being nice is part of the job in those situations. If I see them when they're "off the job" so to speak, I don't bother them; maybe that's why almost all of my encounters have been positive.

Rohene Ward is a competitive figure skater, and I think he may have advanced to Nationals at lest once.

He is in one or more of the recent ice shows featuring African American skaters.

I can testify to this. I met him at Worlds. He was terrific. Thanks for the websites on those two other skaters that I hadn't heard of! :)

I think what seriously skews this poll is the fact that you can vote endlessly...who's the Platov fan that voted thousands of times? Wow. Todd and Elvis are equally nice guys.

I think it's a group of people who vote 100's of times each & skew the results. It makes this type of poll useless. I agree that Todd & Elvis are much better known as the nice guys in figure skating, as are other men.

Matt Lind is a very nice young man - he was our guest skater for two years for our club's Spring Show. He was very gracious and kind to all of the young skaters who looked up to him (literally... he's very tall for a figure skater ;) )

Well, Timmy is an amazing person, Tod was nice every time I spoke with him, Mathew Gates is a great man in his own right, but I would like to put my self in the running. Hahahahaha, Just a joke. But we all know the real champion of this is without a doubt..... RYNA BRADLY! B.B.

Well,
Cheers!

Couldn't get the poll to come up. But you've only to look at my screen name to see whom I'd vote for. :-) I've never met Paul personally, but someone I used to work with did and thought him very nice. In fact, I've heard great things about him on all sides!

KittyKins

Yes, ITA, Paul is a terrific guy! He's a dedicated Christian as well. I remember the first time I saw him skate, when he finished 3rd at the US nationals. He looked heavenward and said thank you. I thought, hey that guy is a Christian and that's wonderful! I admire Paul because he was one of the only professing Christians in the skating world, and stayed true to his beliefs and values.

I don't know as much about Ryan, but he seems very nice too.

I'm not sure why the voting booth didn't come up. I'll check that out. Sometimes it is down for a while. I have found that in the past.

My vote is for Scott Hamilton and Paul Wylie.

I know a young skater who went to Scott Hamilton for his autograph and he asked for the young skater's autograph in return. It was the thrill of her life.

I think that Brian Boitano and Kurt Browning are two of the classiest and nicest skaters. They are phenomenal with taking time for the kids. Brian Boitano even came out in between numbers to buy cookies from the local synchronized team's table, while performing at The Children of Cherynoble benefit that Viktor Petrenko organized. You can add Viktor to that list also!

Hehe...Not that I care all that much...But I find it interesting that Canada's National Champion, Emanuel Sandhu wasn't included on the poll...Not that I'd ever classify him as someone nicer than any of those guys...But I definitely thought he had more fans who would vote for him!

I am a huge fan of Emanuel's and while he is extremely friendly if you meet him on the street, he does not seem to "put himself out there" otherwise. His team doesn't seem to do a very good P.R. job for him - IMO.

It's too bad - he's a classically trained dancer as well as a very talented figure skater - I would think some "community time" could be time well spent. There are lots of little kids (and big kids) who could benefit from his experiences and perhaps if people got to know him a little better, they would not think of him as being quite so odd!?

I'll pick Tim Goebel, he hugged me when I met him backstage at COI. I didn't even have to ask for one but I gave him a beanie baby :)

Now that I have actually met some skaters, I can form an opinion on a few.

David Pelletier is nothing less than stellar, of course, but they were awfully busy with autographs, so we didn't get to chat with him or anything, but he did remember being in Sarah's picture that she asked him to autograph and I thought it was ADORABLE that he remembered, since the picture was taken a year and a half earlier! Aww.

Jeff Buttle was so nice! Gold stars for him. He definitely took time to exchange a few words with us, pose for pictures, etc. Very warm and genuine.

Steven Cousins gets major props for cuddling with me during the picture and that's all I have to say about that. :D

Hugh Yik was, I think, a little surprised that I wanted a picture with him. Haha, it was cute. Tyler Myles was really nice...we yelled at him from the car in the parking lot and he came over to chat with us. I think it was hilarious...Sarah was trying to get his attention because she knows him, and there I was, having never seen him before that night, hanging out of the window and waving him over.

But the prize for the nicest, chattiest guy we met at Mariposa has to go to...

Dave Mabee! (Chris Mabee's brother) He's hilarious. Hahahaha.

Sorry. I have to change my answer.

Jean-Sebastien Fecteau. Anyone who teaches me to use chopsticks and then doesn't make fun of me when I make a large mess of my soy sauce on the tablecloth is a stellar guy. ;)
