Hey everyone!
Yesterday I was fortunate enough to attend Shae-Lynn's autograph session at John Gibbons in Chatham. I live in Windsor, so it only took about 45 minutes to drive there, which is nice. I went with my mom, and I brought my camera to take pictures, along with a picture that I had taken of Shae and Victor at the Canadian Open in '99 for her to sign. When we got there, there weren't very many people there at all, but it was a really nice set up that they had there, with a HUGE cake with pictures of Shae and Victor on it, as well as a table set up for her to sit at and sign autographs. On the table sat a television set playing some of their past performances (Canadians '98 was on when I was there - Riverdance!), and there was a sign saying Congratulations Shae-Lynn! across the front of the table. I was nervous as I was moving up the line to my turn, because any other time that I have been able to meet Shae-Lynn, it has been very brief, and I haven't had a chance to really talk to her. Plus, I'm usually so in shock that I start crying or something silly like that. ;) I had to plan out what I was going to say to her beforehand. LOL! I'm such a goof! Before I got to the front of the line, she was posing for pictures with some little kids in their skating outfits, and holding babies for pictures and everything. It was cute. Anyway, when it was finally my turn, I smiled at her, and I was like "I'm so excited to see you!" and she smiled! I told her that I was so excited when they won Worlds and that I had been watching at work, along with all of my coworkers. Then I told her that her family had come in to my restaurant a couple weeks before they won Worlds, and that I had been excited to see them there. She said that her mom works in Windsor sometimes, so that is why they were there probably. I asked to get a picture with her, so she stood up and put her arm around me and I was like "I love you guys, you're awesome!" and she said thanks. Then my mom took one picture, and then asked for another one, "just in case" and Shae was like "yeah, just in case!" It was really cute. I thanked her, and then we left. It was exciting! I was so happy to see her, because she and Victor have been my favourites for so long, and I have looked up to her so much since I was a little girl. It was a good experience. I did not stay for the parade though, because I had to get back to Windsor, but I did see the Corvette convertible that she sat in for the parade parked outside of the dealership. It had a sign with a maple leaf and "Shae-Lynn" on the side of it. I took a picture of that too. It was so cool to see Shae-Lynn giving back to her community like that, even though she is a big star. Shae is honestly one of the sweetest people that you will ever meet, and her mom is really nice too. She was on the local Windsor news late last night and at the ceremony in Chatham she said that she would always come home to visit Chatham, and that Chatham would always be her family. :)
I hope you enjoyed my little "review" of the experience! :D
