Just wondering if Kurt's special coming up on Nov. 1 was a ISU sanctioned event? B & S are said to be there, and at Skate Canada at the same time.
I watched the Gotta Dance show last year, and it was all pro skaters.
Thanks
It wasn't a competition...just a show. The skaters would have to have sanctions from their home federations (maybe) to skate in a show (depends on the federation's rules).

I remember B&S, Yagudin, Elvis, and a few other eligible skaters appeared in some of the first Starskates shows (which mainly featured pro skating) a few years ago, so it doesn't surprise me to see them doing the same for Kurt's show.
I also remember the Russian federation gave their eligible skaters permission to appear in these shows, but for some reason, the USFSA would not.

I am a toe pick short here ... would you clarify something for me, please?
Are you saying that Kurt' is doing a second season of Gotta Dance with new skaters etc. starting on November 1st?
Or, are you saying that the Gotta Dance show that Kurt filmed in Vancouver last year will be aired on TV on November 1st? :?

New show, new programs, some new skaters and some the same. Performed and recorded November 1, 2002. To be broadcast on TV later.
(I was at last year's show in Vancouver and it was GREAT! LOVED IT!!!) :D :D :D

Yeah, a couple years ago the USFSA did not sanction the StarSkates series and a few skaters had to withdraw from the shows, however Elvis and B&S did appear in the shows since their federations sanctioned it, I guess.
Last year the IMG shows were predominantly professional skaters, however, Kristi's Salute to Gold show last year did have eligible skaters Todd Eldredge and Irina Slutskaya in it...so I'm sure B&S will be fine.

Yeah! That would cool if it was a comp.
Lets make a competion, where the singles skaters must skate against each other without any jumps or spins!
Just some wishful thinking. :D

Hmm ... I don't recall [b:4207f5eee9]any[/b:4207f5eee9] eligible skaters in Gotta Dance. Mind you, it was smack dab in the middle of the Grand Prix during an Olympic year, so maybe next year will be different.
p.s. to lotusland: rumours are that Gotta Dance II will be in Ontario (Hamilton, I think, though possible TO). I guess it was too much to hope we'd get it in Vancouver twice in a row.

Kurt Browning's "Gotta Dance" is being held at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario on Friday 11/1/02 @ 7:30 p.m.
Confirmed skaters are;
Scott Hamilton
Brian Orser
Stephen Cousins
Josee Chouinard
Chen Lu
Brasseur & Eisler
Also the performance group "Anti-Gravity" plus "surprise musical guests".
Hopefully Sonia Rodriguez (Kurt's wife) will be performing. For those who are wondering, Sonia is a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Canada.
Tickets are on sale through www.ticketmaster.ca . Last years show in Vancouver was fantastic! I'm looking forward to the show in Hamilton....should be great. :D

According to the Copps Coliseum website, one of the musical performers will be Edwin and the Pressure. Don't know if they'll add any more. The current scheduled broadcast date is Dec. 1, 2002 from 4-6PM EST on NBC.

More info on this special (as well as the other specials NBC plans to broadcast this season) can be found on the official SOI site:

BTW, it's rumored one of the "surprise musical guests" for Kurt's next Gotta Dance special may be a certain Canadian music group who wrote the music for one of Kurt's best-known routines and who Kurt considers to be his all-time favorite rock band...but nothing's been officially confirmed yet, of course! :)

I'm starting to get the feeling that we shouldn't expect that Canadian band to show up...they were mentioned in an initial tentative release in Blades on Ice (said they were invited) but not in any press since. And then "surprise musical guests" was taken off the releases and Edwin and the Pressure (or just Edwin I guess) added on... It'd be very cool if they were there but I wouldn't anticipate it too much...that's what my intuition tells me anyway.

Hmmm...interesting.
The Disson Skating site lists Edwin McCain, who's a different performer than Edwin and the Pressure, as the musical guest for this show. I wonder which one it is...I'm more inclined to trust Disson than Copps Coliseum...
