I'm thinking that I would like to subscribe to a figure skating magazine in order to hear about & see pictures from events and competitions that you never see on TV or otherwise hear about in regular publications, and to learn more about the sport. Is there any magazine in particular that you think is a really good one, that would be worth subscribing to? Thanks!

I think there's one called, "International Figure Skating"...Or something like, and it's a really good magazine. I like to buy it whenever I see it, but I think it's a little expensive...:??

I avoid IFS like the plague. Try Blades on Ice or Figure Skating Magazine. They'll give you a better perspective of figure skating than Mark Lund's self-promoting view of the sport.

International Figure Skating, Blades on Ice and Spotlight Skating are the better ones.
Dont bother with the one skating inc is trying to promote!

I completely forgot about Spotlight. That is a very good magazine. If I had a choice of one, it would be Blades.

IFS is a great mag, lots of news and great cheesy off-ice pics. ;) And since I tend to agree with a lot of Lund's view of the world of figure skating, his and Lois's perspectives don't bother me at all. I dropped Skating...it's basically just a boring offshoot of the USFSA's boring website, complete with pages and pages of USFSA comp results and photos...zzzzzz.

I wouldn't subscribe to IFS, just buy it in the stores. It always comes late, misses issues, and they send you twice as many renewal notices as magazines.

I prefer IFS to BOI altho I subscribe to both. I've never had any trouble with IFS arriving late. IFS addresses more of the problem issues in skating than BOI which tends to be blander.

I forget because it was so long ago, but they used to have figure skating magazines shipped in to the stores around here. But they stopped, I'm pretty sure its because I was the only one supporting it every month! I would love to get a subscription maybe i'll hop on to one of the websites and subscribe to it!

I'd have to subscribe because I don't live in a town with any store that stocks enough magazines to offer figure skating ones.

8-)
spotlight on skating is a good mag...
ifs' tardiness (usually four weeks late here) and their never ending renewal notices turned me off (got my first "it's time to renew" notice before i got my first issue of a TWO YEAR subscription!!!)...wouldn't take a free subscription to that rag today...
