My comment: not them, too! They have a wonderful unique quality that surely will get steamrolled by Morozov's cookie-cutter choreography. :-\ I don't understand why Morozov seems to be the It guy lately.

I love his choreography, and look what it did for Sasha and Shae and Vic. :D Who knows, maybe he'll play up to their unique quality, and do something different with them.

Melissa and Denis have posted a journal entry to their official site with more information on the move to Connecticut:

I don't think Morozov is cookie cutter. I also don't think G/P were all that original before.

I don't think that Morosov is cookie cutter either. It's just that everyone flocks to him so it seems cookie cutter. What I'm worried about is that he may not have enough time to spend with all his teams equally.

Count me in as another who doesn't think Morozov is cookie-cutter. When a coach/choreographer has that many people he's doing work for, there are bound to be some similarities. But I really like Nicky's style. It'll be interesting, though, if G/P make the podium again next year, Morozov will have 2/3rds of the US dance World team.

No, because the US only has two spots at Worlds next year.

It seems as if Morosov is the man to be with, when it comes to putting programs together. Good for them. If that is what they wanted to do, then I am happy for them. We will see next season.

I wish them the best of luck and hope that they are able to improve and advance in the World and National standings! Go Melissa & Denis!

The only thing "cookie cutter" about Nikolai has been his love of straight-line footwork near the end of a program. Give him a moment to come up with a new idea, will you?
This is a guy who's willing to try anything once, just to see if it works. That impression was permanently set in my mind in June 1999, the day I saw him attach fake skis to Yagudin's boots during a practice session in CT. Alexei was out on the ice with these things attached to his boots, along with ski poles in hand. Never saw that program make it to prime time, so it apparently didn't work...but the creative process at least gave it a try.
