She seems to wnat to stay out of pictures. At least on Google. She was around a long time ago and never won an Olympic title. I think no on ereally knows how much she accomplished during her career. I will keep searching google for poictures but so far, no luck!!

Thanks Sasha C. Lover and Frog. I have been searching for pics of Janet Lynn on the web for years and couldn't find any. I don't know much about her just from what every skating experts are saying, that's she's the best ever. Here's a few things that I know, when she turned pro in the mid 70's she's one of the highest paid atheletes, a million dollar contract to perform in the Ice Capades (quite a contract even by todays standards), but unfortunately she develop sporst induce ashtma and she have to retire. In '83 she had a brief comeback, if you have the video Magic Memories on Ice 2 I think that was her comeback performance and that's the only time we see a recorded performance of hers, I belive she's also the one first female skater to do a triple jump. So here's hoping that the ice channel would show some of her performances.

Janet Lynn skated to Afternoon of the Fawn and it was one of the most beautiful programs ever skated by anyone.
Sorry Marie Therese - the first female triple jumper was Petra Burka of Canada.

In her book, Janet mentions landing a triple salchow when she won junior ladies at age 13.

Petra Burka did a triple salchow at Worlds in Colorado in 1965.
You can see her bio at http://www.skatecanada.ca/english/about/fame/indexfame.html
This is Skate Canada's Hall of Fame site. Go into Honoured Members and select Petra Burka.

It's okay. When you type a link that's longer than a certain length, the software automatically truncates the displayed version so the page doesn't get stretched all over the place. When someone clicks on it it will still work the way it's supposed to.

I've seen a tape of this performance. Actually, Janet was only 12 at the time. Truly an amazing performance, including a great triple salchow. The music was "Don Quixote". This performance (and the triple jump) was more impressive than some of the ones she did in seniors IMO.

Does anyone know the date when Janet Lynn was inducted into the World Skating Hall of Fame in D.C. ? I'm trying to date some of my pictures that I took at World, and I can't remember if the induction ceremony was after the compulsory dance or after the ladies qualifying. Thanks.
