In our papers we have "The Nutcracker on Ice" show advertised. It is amazing that we are getting a skating show coming the Melbourne, Australia. It claims to have a stack of Russian skaters who have skated at Worlds, Olympics and Europeans.
However they have announced two names. One is Ioulia Barsoukova who was an Olympic gold medalist at the 2000 Olympics (in what they don't say) and the other one is Elena Khaliavina who is advertised as a silver medalist at the 2002 World Ice skating Championships.
Does anyone know anything this show or these skaters? I am totally mystified.

No figure skating Olympics in 2000, Barsaukova is Olympic gold medallist in gymnastics (and also skates, LOL):

Thanks for the links. The details they gave in the ads was very sketchy. I have sent an email to the agency that is promoting the event asking for information about the show.

I believe this show is Pasha's. She toured in the US a few years ago as the star of Nutcracker On Ice and I know her manager put it together for her.

It was playing in Edinburgh this week but I have to admit that I had no desire to go so I didn't bother buying a ticket. I did get a chuckle out of the advertising though, a lot of the posters and newspaper ads had "With Olympic Champion Yulia Barsukova!" paraded across them, and with the level of knowledge of skating here, everyone would have assumed she was a figure skating Olympic Champion. I've seen one skating show on a stage before, it was the Russian Allstars a good few years ago, and I came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth the money because the stage just isn't big enough for decent skating. I know the writer of the article seemed impressed enough by the jumping and spinning, but bear in mind he's a journalist from Edinburgh, so his knowledge of skating will begin and end at Torvill and Dean.
