No notes; this is all from memory.

First of all, the crowd was DEAD! Other than Michelle, Sasha, Phillipe, and for some reason Elvis, the reaction for everything was lukewarm. I don't know why, I thought the show was great.

Opening number was fun. The music started with the seventies and went up to the late nineties. Michelle, Irina, and Sasha did footwork into double axels to "Livin La Vida Loca" at the end. Unfortunately, they were completely out of sync. It would have been really cool if they had actually been doing stuff all at the same time, but I'm sure they didn't have much time to rehearse.

Nicole Bobek- Easily the biggest waste of raw talent and charisma ever. I think the hardest thing she landed might have been a double flip, and yet I still got into the program at least a little.

Punsalan and Swallow- Don't know what the music was, never been a big fan of these two. They didn't seem to have much personality this year. Other years I haven't liked the program but at least could tell they were enjoying it. This year I actually thought the program wasn't bad but didn't see them getting into it.

Victor Petrenko- Male ballad. Still has the power and ice coverage, and apparently when you learn to skate from the Russians, you don't forget how. He had among the best basic skating and power.

Totmianina and Marinin- LP to The Cotton Club. I'm sorry, technically I know they're good- they landed a nice throw 3loop- but they bore me to death. I want to see something, anything, on her face as they skate.

Sokolova- instrumental piece I didn't recognize. Having an off day; lot of two-foots and hands-down.

Rudy- Prince. Another kind of campy number for him. I think that's going to become his trademark, but I kind of like it. He threw his cape into the audience.

Phillippe- US patriotic program. I liked it, but I might have been willing to like anything he did that didn't involve the removal of clothing. I was surprised he got a standing O for it.

Fumie is such a gorgeous skater that I wish she had done something the crowd could have gotten into more. I don't think she was fully appreciated.

Ann-Patrice, I fear, is little more interesting than T&M. Again, I want to see SOME emotion on her face. Also, her program went on like forever with just the one piece of music. Four minutes with one very repetitive song is not my cup of tea.

Naomi and Peter- FD. I think we've discussed it in detail around here already. Not drastically different from 4CC or Worlds.

Michael Weiss- Angel In A Centerfold. Ice humping, jumping over a chair, unbuttoning of clothing (for one horrible moment, he looked like he was going to take his pants off), Tornado in which he didn't fully rotate and hit the ice hands-first, and oh yeah, a triple Lutz. I think that sums it up nicely.

I have never been so glad to see Shae and Victor in my life, mainly because when I saw them in the skaters' entrance I knew Mikey had to be almost done. Voidy FD with a section of the middle taken out. Not much else to say; they were the highlight of the show for me.

Slinky Girl- different music, same gimmick. I still thought it was cool this year, but I don't know if I'll find it cool three years in a row.

Acrobats- Ok, I still like them. Nothing interesting to say about the program, though.

Timmy- Creed, Arms Wide Open. My mom's reaction: "That wasn't as awful as I was expecting". I didn't note jumps or anything. His posture isn't great but it's oh-so-much better than it was.

Elvis- In the Middle by Jimmy Eat World. Usual Elvis program. I have to admit, I still love him. I had a Canadian coach during his heyday, so I guess I didn't have a chance;)

Sasha- R&J. I like the program, but I was surprised she didn't do something more upbeat and show-like. I'll be interested to see if R&J is her competition program next year. I didn't love it, but it was ok.

LP, I think. The usual. I like his skating more than I used to, but I still miss Alexei.

Michelle- "Fallin". Another brown and gold outfit. USE A COLOR! OK, rant over.

The end number was hilarious. It was like a Carnival or Mardi Gras theme and the outfits were a riot. If I can find pics anywhere I'll post a link later. This was my eleventh COI, and I don't plan to stop going any time soon.
