Hello, Everyone
I don't know if I should post this here - if this is the wrong place then I am sorry !! I know I should have posted this sooner reagrding the review of the "Sk8 with Elvis 2002 Tour" show which was held in Vancouver, BC at the General Motors place but I have been really busy. I just wanted to add a few things about the show.
My husband & I got there very early hoping to meet some of the skaters before the show. Which we did, in the distance from the back door I saw a taxi who was dropping off some of the skaters by the door. Getting out of the taxi I saw Brian Orser, Elizabeth Manley, Irina Grigorian (hoola hoop lady), that was all I recognized because it was dark. At that time my right knee was bad so I couldn't run over to where they where but when I did manage to hopp over to get there. I did manage to catch Brian Orser who was paying the taxi driver, I asked him for his autograph - overall he is extremely nice guy - I told him how much I respect him for who is as a person & he then gave me a hug, which was kewl!! So then I went to the show - which was amazing - love the show - where I was sitting was the 7th row - right in the centre of the arena & for me where I was located I could see the other skaters who was sitting by the boards who was watching the other skaters while they performed, which was pretty kewl. I took a lot of pictures from the show which some are good & bad - but I tried - not a professional photographer even though I have a Nikon F-70 camera with a zoom lense!! One of these days I should learn how to use it !!
The best part of was after the show - because my husband & I went to the the tour bus where all of the skaters were making there way to. Well, I thought it would have been packed with skating fans but I was very wrong - including me there were only 3 other skating fans waiting for the skaters to come out, that's it!! So here is the list of the skaters that I did manage to get there autographs - Isabelle Brasseur & Lloyd Eisler - very nice didn't have time to chat with them really - I was trying to get the other skaters because at that time it seemed like they all came out at once. Also, Philippe Candeloro, Josee Chouinard, Brian Orser - which again I met him while he was leaving in a taxi & Elizabeth Punsalan. Some of skaters were already on the tour bus - my husband dared me to knock on the door of the bus to get some of the skaters who were already on the bus so that I could also get there autographs as well - which I did of course - I knocked on the bus - & I received Rudy Galindo & Jerod Swallow's autographs, Jerod told me you must really are a skating fan becasue I knocked on the bus door & he said to me that you only live once, which is true - go with the moment!
And last but not least was Elvis Stojko - very nice he came out last - we talked about martial arts (we have something in common) I gave him my e-mail address hoping that we could sparr one day, I was dreaming!! He was so very nice - I asked him for a hug & he was kind enough to give me one, lol - oh if I wasn't married!! That night I also received Surya Bonaly, Oleksiy Polishuk & Vladimir Besedin (acrobats) & DJ / Host Chris Sheppard's autographs, which was also pretty kewl.
The other skaters I was hoping that I had received there autographs as well - is from Elizabeth Manley - I asked Chris Sheppard where Liz Manley was, if she left or not & he mentioned that she left right after the show with her brother who lives in White Rock, which I was disappointed because Liz is my all time favorite skater, even though she is ready to retire soon (which I hope she doesn't) & that night she wasn't able to do some of the jumps becasue of her bad ankle but Liz being Liz, I still love to see her skate. I also would have liked to receive Dan Hollander autograph as well , I did see Elena & Anton but didn't manage to get theirs - too busy talking to another skater at that time. Oh well, maybe next time! So, the "Canon SK8 With Elvis" program & my T-Shirt is full of autographs from the show by these skaters that I mentioned above.
Driving home that night I was still in such amazement, it seemed like was a wonderful dream I had that night of getting almost every skaters autographs on the tour. My husband kept asking me if I was okay - lol !!!! So that is what happened to me - I still can't believe it - even though it happened awhile back. The only pictures that are scanned and are now on my webpage so far from the show is Elizabeth Manley's pictures - hoping to scan more pictures of the skaters from that show very soon.
Here is my webpage address if you like to see the pictures, more comng soon!! -

Just click on Elizabeth Manley's name and that will bring you to the pictures.
I will let you know once I have scanned Elvis' Pictures on my webpage.
Oh - regarding the CBC version of the show - I was definitely was disappointed that CBC only showed 1 HR only. I was expecting so much more of the "Canon Sk8 With Elvis 2002 Tour" Show, like interviews or show more what goes on behind the scenes - Being a figure skating fan I was for sure disappointed!! Also, after seeing the live show & CBC's version - absolutley did not compare whatssoever!! Could have been longer like 2 Hrs easily!!
Thank you for reading my post - sorry it was long !!
Take care,
Heather (Karategirl0077)
