Did anyone watch The Planets on Bravo? It just ended. I wish I knew what year it was made. The skaters included Brian Orser and the Duchesnays as well as the Brampton Ice Angels. Ballet dancers were led by....Sonia Rodrigues!
So, was this filmed before or after she met Kurt?
At any rate, it was another blending of ballet and skating, but with a very classical theme. In fact, the dancers wore Greek togas.
I don't know if it will be shown again. Bravo usually repeats their shows a few times, though,

This is a fairly old special (and definitely not the first time Bravo's broadcast it!)--it was originally made around 1993 or 1994, if I remember correctly. And yes, Sonia and Kurt were dating at the time.

Thanks jcspkbfan. I thought it was pretty old. Brian looked younger and slimmer than he is now!
The Planets would definitely appeal to a limited audience, IMO. Way too artsy, even for me!
Do you know if Brian was involved with the concept for this program? If I remember correctly, this was about the time of Brian Boitano's CARMEN ON ICE, and there were quite a few other TV features that incorporated skating. Kurt's SINGIN' IN THE RAIN was from this era, wasn't it?
Gosh, those were the good old days.

I'm fairly sure it was 1993.
BTW, this is at least the 2nd time Bravo! has aired this in the last few months -- it was on either just before or just after Christmas as well. So they may or may not air it again. I posted an alert about it in TV alerts last time, but didn't bother this time. If I spot it again I'll remind folks.

It's also appeared on A&E - that was where I first saw it. I actually totally love it, but I'm also a huge classical ballet fan along with skating. You can buy it on video - not sure if it's now on DVD. I actually got a copy of the video.

I guess you guys don't watch the credits. The copyright said 1994. I only caught the end of the show.

There are so very few skating videos available on DVD ... I'd be extremely surprised if this one was.

I have it on DVD -- I recorded it from the broadcast earlier this year !!
It's one of those that gets replayed a few times every few years. The one I'd really like to see rebroadcast is Carmen On Ice -- I want to get a really good copy of it, it's been a few years since they've rebroadcast it.

I absolutely love the duchesneys in the planets
I have watched it about 10 times and think it is the best skating choreography for a large production that I have ever seen.
