View Full Version : Philly COI, 4/5: Any questions?
I attended COI today and will try to write a little something tomorrow. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to comment on. It ended up being a good show.:)

Looking forward to your comments--maybe something about size and quality of the audience, who got the best responses, the finale, etc. And don't forget Rudy!

Please post about Elvis, what each skater's music was, what jumps and spins freeskaters did, what Shea Lynn and Victor Kraatz's audience reaction to their skating was, how many numbers did most skaters get to perform and how many group numbers were there?

about Plush program?? I read he did his St Petersburg 300??
Okay...to answer your questions, I was thrilled that Evgeny did his LP instead of the exhibition I saw him perform last Sunday. He opened with either a 4t/3t/2l or a 3t/3t/2l. It looked like a quad, but he was in spots...I don't know. He fell hard on the 3z and continued to spin around on his butt/back and kind of went with the moment and played it up. The rest was great. He did very effective footwork in the finale and poured on the presentation during it. Then he was clapping and dancing at the end of the show near my seat and looking happy. I was glad to see that since he didn't seem very cheery post-LP at Worlds, IMO.
Elvid did the same type of COI program he usually does and slapped a lot of people's hands by me and they loved it. He was very smiley and enthusiastic and they crowd appreciated him. I don't remember the song, though, or the jumps, if he jumped...I know he didn't fall:).
Rudy has lovely skating, but I'm just not a fan of this kind of program from him. The crowd liked it. I *think* he did 2 3t's and 2-footed one.
Michelle was beaming and was the rock that she was at Worlds. She did a very springy 3z and all jumps were clean. I like the song and think she moved to it and sold it very well. She could use a little more mileage on the program, though, overall, and I wish it had straight-line footwork. It might've seemed a little stagnant, but she was still fabulous and clearly the best lady. I stood for her, but not many people did...I was surprised.
Shae-Lynn and Victor *rocked*. I was ready to throw myself on the ice;)...they were great. They did the FD, minus the Sarah Brightman section. I was overjoyed that they did their FD...a treat. The audience was not quite as into it, though. I stood.
Overall, the audience near me was great (surprise!) and every skater got applause and *cheers* from all 4 sides, which I don't remember always being the case. I thought the crowd really liked Elvis, Dorothy, Phillipe, Dan (he *was* funny), B&P (the acrobats), Irina G. (hula-hoops), and MK (actually moreso before she skated). I most enjoyed Victor (now that's an OC's program), L&T (really sold it), C&S (fast, sold it), B&K, Fumie (stroking!), Sasha, Michelle, and Evgeny. There were about twice (or 3 times) as many people in attendance for this compared to SOI. This crowd seemed very good overall, but stingy with standing ovations. They did all stand for the finale, though, and the skaters on my side were appreciative. Peter T. blew a kiss after we cheered for him and I thought I'd better send one back, just to be polite;).
Let me know if there's anything else...other people did reviews, so I'll just answer questions.
