Here are a couple of recently published articles talking about WSF from a Canadian perspective:
http://www.canoe.ca/EdmontonSports/es.es-03-26-0108.html (includes quotes from Kurt, Jamie, David, and Skate Canada CEO Pam Coburn)
http://www.canoe.ca/LondonSports/lf.lf-03-26-0084.html (mainly quotes from Kurt, but fortunately no comments about Urmanov this time around!)

Sad - but this is exactly how I expected Skate Canada to react - too bad people like Pam don't have the guts to speak up against Cinquanta.

Frankly, I didn't see Phyllis Howard's comments last night as exactly enthralling either. Not what I would call a whole-hearted endorsement of what the WSF is doing for most skating fans that are sick of the status quo with international skating right now.

I, too, was disappointed that Ms. Howard didn't step up to the plate and support the WSF. It was such a perfect opportunity!!! I am just so sick of the judging . . . .
I don't see anything wrong with Ms. Coburn's statements. Before jumping on any bandwagon, it's very important to learn all there is to know about that wagon, just to make sure the wheels aren't about to fall off.
SC has had a part in helping develop the CoP system (the legality of which will surely be decided soon), and has *always* stated they prefer to work withIN the ISU to effect change.
As of this point, *none* of the federations have joined the WSF -- why should just SC and the USFSA be held to account for this? Aren't there at least 16 other *figure skating* federations in the world?
That being said, kudos to the professional skaters, former skaters and judges who have joined this organization.
Okay...leaving this topic now...

It was actually David Dore, who was looking to become Vice Pres. of the ISU, who said SC preferred to work within the ISU to effect change. I was hoping when he moved his ambition on that we would get someone with guts in there. To give Pam Coburn the benefit of the doubt, she may have just been trying to support the athletes who were competing at Worlds.
If so, that would be a 1st for SC.
In many of the stories I saw about Skate Canada's reaction to the WSF, they said that they would study the outline of the WSF after the world championships. They said that their focus at worlds was their skaters that were competing.

Well, Dore is pretty much 'in bed' with Cinquanta, and Pam has a connection with Dore. So, many of the federations have political reasons to support the ISU. Face it, not many people really care about the skaters when their career stands to get better. There is tons of money in FS, seems to me, and that is to a point what it's about, along with jockeying for position and all that.
