Team Envelopes

On another thread it was posted that with the break up of Kristen Frisch and Brent Bommentre that they have been removed from the team envelope, so I'm curious as to why Cheryl Russell and Kenny Metzger have been left on. They didn't compete past Sectionals and does anyone know if they are still a team?
Also, was there an official announcement of Kristen and Brent's breakup?

There hasn't been any kind of official announcement of Frisch & Bommentre's breakup that I've seen, but if she's reportedly having tryouts and they've been removed from the team envelopes, I'd say it's pretty safe to assume it's true.

As for Russell & Metzger, there hasn't been any "official" word on their plans either that I've seen--so maybe if they have split, they haven't notified the USFSA. Either that, or no one bothered to remove them from the list on the web site. Both of those things have been known to happen when teams split.

I'm curious about the criteria to remain on the Team Envelope. Can Russell & Metzger remain on the Envelope after not competing at Nationals if they return to competitive status this season?

That's entirely up to the USFSA. They aren't automatic qualifiers for any of the envelopes, but the reserve team has some wiggle room--one of the provisions is that they can name athletes from last year's envelopes who don't otherwise qualify. And even if they don't get in on that point, if they were to show up at Lake Placid and do well enough to convince the USFSA to get them an international assignment, they'd be automatic qualifiers for the reserve team on that basis.
