I just got a copy of the 1979 Worlds that was shown on Classic ESPN and finally got to see Tai and Randy's winning LP. It was just amazing. They had such beautiful lines and unison and it had me mesmerised. One of the best. I had only seen them as professionals which I enjoyed but you could certainly see why they were world champions.

That was a wonderful performance! They were truly beautiful skaters.
Tai and Randy show the strengths of a physically matched pairs team (as opposed to those where the man is ten inches or a foot taller than the woman). Their beauty moves remain unsurpassed in pairs skating.
Nowadays, I suspect, they'd have had to skate dance.
I have a great video curio- after they were unable to compete at the Olympics, they appeared on a Bob Hope special and performed what would have been their Olympic long program. I long ago taped over all the Bob Hope parts of the show, but I kept Tai and Randy.
They're my favorite pairs team of all time (I remember being delighted when the braces came off Tai's teeth!).

I'm wondering if anyone has bought the new tai and randy autobiography. I am sure it would make an interesting read.
Yes, their 79 world championship history is what pair skating should be all about. They have the same communication skills as Sale and Pelletier.
Beautiful.
My favourite pro skate of their's was when they won the world pro back in 1986 with On Golden Pond. Simply breathtaking.

I was fortunate enough to see them win their National title back in '78??? in Hartford, CN. It was wonderful watching them skate. 8-)
