Joe Mero is still coaching in Ann Arbor but does often take skaters to DSC.

My info (from a skating parent friend at DSC) says that Mr. Johns was suspended for 60 days by the DSC board due to "inappropriate" behavior. According to my friend, look for Mr. Johns to coach somewhere else in the near future. That would open the door for Joe Mero to move to DSC, which would be great for that rink. Mero is a class guy.

I guess by now we should not be shocked at what goes on at these rinks around the country. We should call this soap opera "As the World Twizzles" or "All My Coaches". Are there no ethics or morals in this sport? Very disheartening.

And I think it speaks volumes about the type of gossip we usually hear in this sport that my immediate thought was "at least it wasn't a student."

I agree with Trillian about the relief we all feel immediately to know that a child wasnt involved! Yes, it DOES speak volumes about this sport.
As for the latest "news" from Detroit, it doesnt seem half as outrageous as the messy "scandal" coming out of Ann Arbor, which is why Ann Arbor coaches are now going to Detroit anyway.
Affairs with skaters and parents of a skater by coaches(Ann Arbor) is the straight up info given to me by sources very very closely involved, have had a huge effect on that rink.
Several skaters have either left that rink as a result or are taking a break from that rink for awhile.
Ben W. is in Ohio and so is RJ.
Can we perhaps leave the hearsay and gossip out of the thread, please? It would be really unfortunate if Adrian was named in a libel suit because of something a poster wrote on his forums. Thanks. ~Lee

I can't imagine what you mean by this, but you aren't quite as educated as you profess to be. Just because sources are close, does not mean they are correct.
I am quite suprised and disappointed to see a post by Trillian that would need to be edited for libelous content.
RJ is skating in Cleveland and Ben W. is skating in Cincinnatti near his home for the time being.
No coaches have left the Ann Arbor FSC to date. There will be some more changes coming down the road, but who says change isnt good.

Ever think that Trillian's post was edited to edit the QUOTE?

The quote was edited. My post was left intact. Although in retrospect, I should have known better than to quote something that would probably have to be edited in such a manner, and I apologize for that.
Trillian's post was indeed edited to remove the potentially libelous material that was contained in the quote. Nothing Trillian posted was libelous.

My question is how can any director run a rink ethically and objectively when he has personal partiality for one coach over another? Our skater athletes must follow USFSA rules and disciplines to the letter and the coaches seem to get a free ride on behavior. DSC at least acts quickly in most of the public cases of misbehavior.
