Article about Lina Johansson
Here is an article from today about Swedens Lina Johansson.
Johansson show that she is strong
I am never nervous and that is I very happy for........
Practise six days a week beside the schoolwork. That is Lina Johanssons schedule - who she loves. The figureskating is more important than anything else for this 14 year old Malmö girl. The only concern is that the icehalls in Malmö close over the summer months. - Then I have to practise at some other places and that is a little bit unconvinient, Lina says.
She is only 150 cm long. But she is the biggest figureskating hope that Sweden ever had. 14 yeear old Lina is on her way to the top on the icerinks and she continue to impress us. - I will participate in the olympics in Turin, that I have decided, she says smiling.
Good results have followed the young Lina ever since she was 7 years old, when she took her first victory in a small local competition. After that she has elegant and sure trippled out in the big world. Only this winter Lina has been the silver medalist at junior olympics, number six at the junior world cup final, the swedish nationals junior champion and last week she was number 8 at junior worlds.
- She did it fantastic, Ela Magnusson her coach in Malmö says impressed. Lina is also satisfied with her placement at worlds and she knows what not worked full out.
- It was some jump that I not landed as I should. And I have to practise more on stroking and be better on go faster over the ice.
At the competition in Ostrava there was 50 ladies from all over the world. At the top Lina, who wil be 15 in september, was the youngest . She was number two from Europe, only Karolina Kostner from Italy was better. But that with age and that other skaters has more experience than her don´t concern her when she is going out on the ice. She hardly know what competitions nerves is.
- I am never nervous and that I am very happy for, it helps me to skate more sure, Lina says.
We meet her at one of her practice in the practise hall in Malmö. For a young girl she has a hard schedule.
It can´t help that the school becomes a little in second hand. Many times she has to do the tests one week after her classmates. This spring she will have grades for the first time.
- I have the top grade in gymnastics and I am pretty good on English to, she proud says.
Every day after the lessons at Dammrischool she go to practise on ice, ballet ore to the gym.
-But it is fun to come and practise and meet the friends here, Lina assure us.
After her 15th birthday Lina has an entry billet to the top Senior competitions. She has many eyes on her, both in Sweden and in the rest of the world. Noone doubt that she will be a figureskater to recond with. Her biggest competitors in the futures she believe will be from Japan and China . The girls from russia in her age she already beats.
- My goal is to take a medal in Turin 2006, she promise us.
You can´t do anything else than to believe her.
