My daughter was sitting on my lap when I came across this post and she wanted to reply so I'll type her response.

I am 9 and a juvenile. I've skated since I was 4 years old. I got my axel and double sow (I'm telling her it is double sal... - hey, new thread! Which of us is right?! :P ) when I was 6. I have my doubles and combinations with double loop - double toe is harder to me - and almost have my double axel which I will have in my program this season! Skating is my favorite thing in the world. I love competitions so I can see my skating friends who live far away from me.

I'm 15 and in Novice. I have all my doubles except axel which is close and in both my short and long. My favorite jump is double lutz.

The full name of the jump is salchow which is named after Ulrich Salchow. Sal is the shortened version, not sow, so you're right. :)

I have to laugh when I read "almost have my double axel"...that state of being can last anywhere from a few months to a few years! Then it's solid...then it disappears...then it comes back...it seems to be an elusive little sucker :)

I don't have double combos (someday...) - just single combos - but I've always thought combos with a loop on the end are much easier than combos with a toe loop. With the loop you are already in position for the take off.

Good luck with your skating - sounds like you are doing quite well for your age.
