According to Gerhard Heiberg, head of the IOC's evaluation commission, the fact that more than 86,000 people voted in favour of the bid ends any suggestion Vancouverites don’t support the city’s bid.

Heiberg spoke to IOC President Jacques Rogge who expressed a positive opinion as well. “We are both very happy. I congratulate you. I think this is very, very positive. It shapes up very well for Vancouver and your candidacy”, said Heiberg.

Sucks to be NYC if Vancouver gets the 2010 Olympics. That 2012 bid would be almost impossible.

Probably just as well - if they get 2012, they'd have their excuse to waste money on their stupid Manhattan stadium idea.
