I don't know what's wrong with German sportchannel DSF recently, but actually they've provided us some Northamerican shows and competitions from the end of last year. So we poor Germans got to see Kurt's "Gotta dance", "Scott Hamilton & friends" and last Saturday the Hallmark Championships.

Today - an almost spring day here in Germany - they actually had the audacity to show two last years Christmas shows, one US-American (... which was, with lil' exceptions, quite corny. It seemed to me that nobody found the button to switch off this "Charlotte Church" Lady ...) and one from Canada, which was waaayyy better, at least IMHO. However, I really enjoyed the performances of Alexei (... did you expect anything else? ;)), Ilia (beautiful!) and - of course! - Kurt.

But the main attraction to me this time was another guy: Jeffrey Buttle! Wow! Loved that performance! Refreshing kind of music (does somebody know from whom it was?), presented by a skater like a fresh seabreeze. He just gets better and better! I think he's one of the few who really LOVES to skate and you sense that with every second he performs. He just knocked me out!

I remember how impressed I already was by him and his SP mainly at last season's Worlds, but after that I've unfortunately lost contact and informations. So would PLEASE someone out there be so kind to give me some fresh informations:

- How he was doing at Canadian Nationals? I've heard he became second ...
- To what music exactly he skates this season?
- What about his jumps? Secure Axel now? Quad?
- Any other news?

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

jeff Buttle is definelty a breathe of fresh air.. I'm going to try and answer some of you questions...

Yes you right about Jeff came Second it was actually quite a close call, there were many canadians thinking that he should of even WON the title. I'm still very undecided, but I did decided that I would not have wanted to be a judge on that panel!

This year Jeffs short program was Conspiracy Theory, Overture composed by Carter Burwell as for his long program it was For Cello & Orchestra in E minor, Op. 85 composed by Sir Edward Elgar. Then for that christmas show "Holiday on ice" he skated to A lonely christmas eve. He had such great character in all of them. His show number was 7 days by Craig David.

Jeffs jumps are not bad, his triple axel is pretty consistant although he does have trouble on it now and again. As for his quad I hear its really coming along! I did quad triple at 4cc! I'd like to say 4CC is really a great competition for Jeff winning it last year and landing the combo this year! I hear in practices his quad triples are looking very nice also!

As for other news.. He's off to Washington Dc for worlds later in March the 25 I believe. Also I lil fun fact is that he also judges I heard he gone up to novice. Amazing guy eh!

Anke - Jeff Buttle landed his first quad in a competition this month but errored in the next couple of jumps because he was so happy about doing it. He is a part-time skating judge..oh yeah. And yes, he is like fresh air in a stuffy room.

Wow, that sounds like a spectacular show - do you think there is any way I can get a copy of the tape?
:) Christiane

Thanks for the update, folks! Very much appreciated! Awww, the 4-continents were on EUROSPORT and I've missed them! All I can do now is looking forward to Worlds ...

Christiane, nice to "see" you again! :) Wish I could tape it for you, but, you know (or not), I've got only one tape recorder. :( Yeah, Alexei, Ilia, Kurt and Jeff were remarkable, but the rest only so so. Have you ever tried to get those performances via video on the net? It's possible, I know it, but I dunno where ... anyone here?

I have one, but I have something in my eye - a few stars & stripes- and can't seem to locate it at the moment...

Yeah, quite funny, grondahl! But I assure you won't do me a favour, really! It's not me who's keen of this special internet link, because - as mentioned before - I already taped those performances :P. It's Christiane from Denmark who needs it, and I'm sure she doesn't even have an idea about our little fight in that certain thread. Żou may have stars and stripes on your eyes, but why should this keep you off from doing something really good and useful? ;)
