Here's to the climax of the SLC Olympics one year ago today. The moment that was unthinkable to many but dreamt of by quite a few!

Thanks for the post! No matter who the favorites for gold in SLC, no one can deny the magic of Sarah's performance. Going into the long program I was really hoping MK would pull out the win, but after seeing them both skate it was clear the judges' decision was the right one. Performances like Sarah's make wonderful memories that last a lifetime, for her and her fans. :D Hats off to Sarah for creating one of my favorite skating memories!

A Poem for the Occasion (ahem)

Here's to Sarah
Proud and tall.
She won the Olympics.
Her only fall
Came after when
She was totally done
As a cameraman told her
That she had won.

Thanks rack!! That's a cute rhyme! :)

Here's a beautiful moment from that fateful evening that I think probably has much more meaning than any action shots taken on the ice:

Rack what a clever poem, thank you.

I’m not a poet, so I have to praise Sarah the regular way.

Sarah,
I knew you had something special every since I saw you in Exhibition at the Goodwill Games in 1998 and every year since you proved me right.
Each year you improved and moved up the ranks until you reached Skating’s ultimate goal Olympic Gold Medal.

You will not only be forever remembered for your inspiring skate, plus being in the Olympic record book, but for a sixteen-year-old that won against all odds.

Yes, the judges finally got it right and that took some of the stench from those Olympic Games.
