I will try to get more names for you in other diciplines as I can.

There are 575 participants this year.

There is also a commerative pin this year for Skate Detroit 2002 for $3.00. I helped design it.

When is Skate Detroit? At what arena? How can I get tickets?

Skate Detroit runs from Wednesday, July 24 to Saturday, July 27th. It's just a summer club competition, so it's not in an arena. Instead it's at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Also, the event is free to anyone who wants to watch. They don't have much information on their web page yet, but here's a link to the Detroit Skating Club's web site which I'm sure willl eventually be updated with an actual schedule - probably sometime in July. http://www.dscclub.com/

I've attended the past two years and it's always been a fun event to watch. :)

Aaron is right, this is a great competition to see. I have been at the last two SD, and you get great skating in the dead of summer. If you are in the area, I highly recommend it!

For Pairs this looks like an interesting competition. Maybe it should replace the Indy challenge. All we need are Inoue/Baldwin and Orscher/Lucash to show up and it would be something else. WOW! In this compeition is there both a short and long program?

Well, if you're talking about determining international assignments, I'd imagine Quigley & Cording would want to show up too. :) Not to mention the new team of Don & Hunt, and I wouldn't be surprised if Phibbs & Patrick gave Indy a shot this year. But you're right, it's still a pretty strong field!

Well, if there is only a short program I can understand why only local pair teams participate. Oh well, I guess we can't cancel Indy. BTW who is attending that competition? Any confirms yet?

Hinzmann & Hartsell and Spielberg & Joeright are definitley competing (providing both teams stay healthy between now and then).

It's more than likely that Inoue & Baldwin and Orscher & Lucash will be competing there in hopes of getting GP assignments. I'm guessing Quigley & Cording will also figure into the mix.

No, Jenny Kirk will not be competing. Matt's coach said he would be competing. Unless he suffers an injury between now and then (please stay healthy Matt!), he'll compete.

I don't know if Stacy Kim is competing.

I saw Christopher Maybee at the Onyx show a few weeks back, and his charisma really impressed me. I am glad he is competing so I can see how he does in a competition setting.

It makes more sense for Ryan to compete at Liberty Open this year as opposed to Skate Detroit, because all of the other 6-9 ranked men in the US are competing here, so its a good way for him to really compete against the strongest competition and see where he's at as compared to the other guys and also convince the USFSA that he is worthy of an international B assignment if he can medal at Liberty Open. Winning Skate Detroit against guys who were not in the top ten at Nationals or didn't even make nationals would not really be proving anything. And maybe he just thinks Wiss/Liberty is more fun than the competing against the same Midwest people over and over.

Don't know the levels. As I have said before and I will say it again I only have a listing of who is competing. I do not have it broken down into their levels.

There were 580 competitors on the list and with the addition of T/M and Volchkova (and probably a few lesser known folks) there are close to 600 names on the list. Can't type them all in and I'm sure DSC would not be happy with that either.
