Congratulations to US novice dance teams for a great showing on the international stage! Adrienne Koob-Doddy/Robert Antonelli won silver and Matt & Caitlin Dail took the bronze at the Hellmut Seibt Memorial competition in Vienna, Austria.:)

The results from the compulsory dances are on the USFSA site, but the final standings are not there yet.

The final results were communicated to me from one of the teams in Austria. The other interesting point is that the compulsory dances for this competition were NOT the compulsory dances that the US novice teams competed this year. Not sure of the entire explanation - but I don't think the ISU dances and the US dances are the same for the novice level; though they are the same for other countries. What that means is the US team's good showing is even more impressive as these teams had only about 4 weeks from the time of this assignment to train these dances to compete against teams who have been training them all season.
Your point about these teams not being the top placed teams at Nationals is correct - they were the highest placed age eligible teams for this competition. K-D/A and D/D placed 5th and 6th respectively, at Nationals.
It's an encouraging point for future US dance.

interesting you noted that the compulsories were different. i understand that usfsa is not in sync with the rest of the world at the novice level cds (in that there are lower levels). there is a lot of discussion about raising the level to include the same higher dances as all the other countries.
a long time ago usfsa attempted to add upper age limits on novice and junior dance but it created a huge controversy. in retrospect, perhaps it had some merit. raising the difficultly level of the dances at the lower levels (going down to pre-juv) competed here also sounds smart.
