How did Abt win Russian Nationals?

I know he did not defeat Plushenko.
What happened?

Plushenko did not compete if I remember correctly.

He won it thanks to no competition. He had a deduction of around a 1.0 in the short program as I reckon, but still beat clean Timchenko and that was ridiculuous. In the FP however, he deserved to win as even though he made mistakes and left the door open, Klimkin just bombed completely.

True, the competition wasn't as strong as usual this year...I wonder if Shubin, Dobrin, or Griazev will be able to sneak into the medals next year.
