Ewww, you know when anything if called a Pot Pourri, it can't be good...

The rhythms chosen are:

Polka :P
March
Gallop
Waltz

I hope to god we don't get an announcement from Skate Canada officially announcing Shae-Lynn and Victor are skating to Roll out the Barrel!

These OD's are a good reason to turn Pro! LOL!

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a gallop?

Good question.
But from the sounds of the rest of the dances, it can't be good

Bump,

What kind of dance exactly is a gallop supposed to be? Has a Gallop ever been done before? Also, wasn't a March either a part of the 2001 or 2000 OD. It seems like it's too soon for a March again.

I don't think I'm gonna like these OD's. Hopefully somebody can come up with something that will change my mind.

Anyone wanna play odds on at least 4/5 of the skaters choosing the waltz? LOL! Just kidding.

I think those OD's might turn out to be quite interesting.

I was expecting a lot of interesting OD's for last season, because the idea of a Spanish medley sounded great, but then most of the dances were really disappointing, because I think the Flamenco didn't work well on ice. Hopefully the OD's will be better next year.

A gallop? All I can think about is the old Romper Room song "Oh come with me and gallop, and gallop, and gallop! Oh come with me and gallop to places far away.."

yeah, I know, I'm dating myself...

Schmeck, off to find her USFSA rule book

After a quick perusal of the USFSA rulebook (which is so poorly laid out that 'quick' is not really quick...) I can't find a thing on the definitions of the OD rhythms. It does have all the CD patterns, though - I'll have to check that section again.

OK - a show of my ignorance. Do the skaters choose one? Do they have to do all? Who in their right mind would choose a polka on figure skates? :?

I think the polka would be fun to see!

is the rule something like "at least 2 of the rythms, but not more than 3"???

I did a general search on yahoo/google. A gallop seems to be a 3/3 beat probably seen in folk dances, some polka's. Hmm.........

Rahkomo & Kokko did an interesting polka to The Addams Family I think. ;)

Canada has a rich polka history. There is a Canadian band who have won grammies just about every year for eons, for their polka albums. Also - who can forget John Candy and Eugene Levy as the Schmenge brothers doing their polkas on SCTV??? Does this bode well for the Canadian ice dance teams?? Hope so!!
