DETROIT SKATING CLUB PAIR SPLITS AFTER FOUR YEAR RUN
Stephanie Kalesavich and Aaron Parchem of the Detroit Skating Club have ended their four year partnership as a pairs team.
"It was kind of a mutual thing" Parchem said Monday. "We decided it was in the best interest of both of us. We felt like we had peaked as a senior team."
After winning the 2002 US bronze medal, the duo placed fifth at last months Nationals in Dallas. Kalesavich, 18, and Parchem, 25, began skating together in 1999 and won the 2000 US Junior title in their first full season together.
They were 7th in their two Grand Prix events this past season at Skate Canada and Trophy Lalique.
Parchem said the skaters parted on good terms. He said he is unsure if he will continue competing.
"Everything is kind of up in the air" said Parchem who recently completed his degree in Economics at the University of Detroit Mercy.
"Stephanie is trying to decide if she wants to continue. I will try to find another partner but I don't have any problems stopping skating."
