I went to the Indianapolis Stars On Ice last night with a friend. Here is what I thougt.
At first I thought "WHY are Meno and Sands here??? They are horribly boring". Well, you know what? After Todd Eldredge, and his seemingly 700 3Axels, M&S were probably the high point of the show for me. Especially Todd Sands, who may just be on par with Kurt for humor if given the chance. They just emote so much together, and IMO, have better chemistry than either B&S and S&P. I was also surprised at how absolutely tiny Jenny and Kyoko are. They had their skates off for a skit, and they looked like 12 year old girls. And Elena looked like a giant. I was really shocked.
I also got to yell at Kyoko when she was off the ice for her skit, and she looked and waved at me. I nearly peed. Yes, I am that easy. LOL :)
Kurt was typical Kurt. Great footwork and humor.
Kyoko and John were brilliant, IMO, much better than Jamie and David or Elena and Anton. I was rather bored by S&P and B&S. And that made me mad, because I expected better from them. They were blah.
Todd was the bomb, he was very happy and smiley, and had great jumps. He skated 2 or 3 solos, and did 3 triples in one. That may have won 2003 U.S. Nationals.
Kat was gorgeous. Enough said there.
Roca and Sur were okay. Why they are here, I will never know.
Yags was exactly like he was on TV, very nice.
You know who I missed from last year? Lucinda Ruh!!! She was the highlight of last year, and I was very upset to not see her.
What did you others think?

Lark - I haven't seen SOI, but I have to warn you - seeing Lucinda once a season is probably about the limits - she's definitely good once, but by the 2nd time, it gets to be same old same old. I've seen her probably 3-4 times in person now this season though! :P

Glad that it looks like you enjoyed the show!

I do disagree with your opinion of Roca/Sur. When I saw the show in Chicago on Saturday, they were among my favorite performances. Their program to "The Prayer" was absolutely captivating, IMO. Seamless lifts and choreography delivered perfectly to the music. They also bring so much charisma and experience to the group numbers.. I They really do shine in a format like Stars on Ice and I thought the show was hurting last year without them, although I did enjoy Krylova/Ovsiannikov as well. :)

I also disagree about Roca & Sur. They were the highlight for me--what a perfect blend of skating and music. It moved me to tears. I do agree about Meno & Sand though. Todd Sand looked like he was having a ball clowning around! I was wondering why Kat was there, but I found her numbers very well done (plus I was jealous as heck that she got to be surrounded by such hunky guys during her first number:lol: ) I would have loved SOI to have added Yuka again--I love her and she would have been a great addition.

I've only seen Lucinda Ruh perform once, and it was definitely
the highlight of the SOI show last year.

The music for her spinning routine - Carpenters, I think -
her costume, the lighting - she put the STAR in Stars On Ice
that night - loved it.
