Big Suprise :? :( :x
I think some people might be pleasantly surprised at what Dore might be able to accomplish on Council. He's a very bright man and is well aware of the public perceptions of the ISU. He may not be the greatest public relations person in the world, but he does know how to get a job done.

Is there any hope Dore might get rid of Speedy (in which ever way he wishes, I don't give a hoot) and he can take over!? PLEASE!?

If Speedy is so hated, why didn't anyone run against him? He was re-elected because he ran unopposed...
It blows my mind that no one stepped up to the plate to run against Cinquanta. If David Dore can be nominated from the floor for a VP position, why wasn't someone else nominated? Or do the speedskaters in the ISU really hold that much sway????
At any rate...here's a Bev Smith article (http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/GIS.Servlets.HTMLTemplate?tf=tgam/common/FullStory.html&cf=tgam/common/FullStory.cfg&configFileLoc=tgam/config&vg=BigAdVariableGenerator&date=20020608&dat eOffset=&hub=sports&title=sports&cache_key=sportsO therHeadline&current_row=7&start_row=7&num_rows=1) (Globe and Mail, with its normal, ugly URLs) on the elections. I think it will be interesting to what happens in the next couple years...the changes, they are a'coming????? We'll see...

Maybe something good will come of all this yet. I have been away for a while and am just now catching up on what has been going on. It sure will be interesting to see how Speedy works (or does not work) with David Dore  . From what I have read, although many of you Canadians may not like the way David Dore did some things, I get the feeling that despite that, you people are pleased that the man gets results :!: That ought to make for active times for that reason alone.
As far as the rest of the other stuff is concerned...I would not be at all surprised if the IOC was giving the ISU enough rope to hang themselves, and perhaps they did this time. Perhaps the IOC was waiting for the ISU to mess up so that they could really step on the ISU for the embarrassing situation in Salt Lake that was created by all the judging shennanigans (which all of us have known existed for years) :!: :!: The 114th Session of the IOC is in Mexico City at the end of November...that meeting ought to prove interesting.
