View Full Version : Should Skaters Be Allowed To Skate A SECOND Year As An Eligible Skater b4 Going Pro??

I think it's unfair that someone like Bryan Joubert is now skating in his second, or even THIRD year as a senior, eligible skater. It is an outrage! Think of all the up and coming French skaters who won't get the chance to compete internationally, go to a Grand Prix Final, or attend Worlds. This is outrageous!!!

Shouldn't every skater be eligible at the senior level for only ONE year to give the youngsters a chance? Why are old-timer's like Joubert allowed to CONTINUE to dominate the field? It's unfair I tell you and I am so upset!

Please join me in this crusade in banning skaters who insist on spending SO LONG at the senior level. This must be stopped!!! Petitions, boycotts, let's take it to the streets, people!

For the sake of future Tara Lipinski's (who respectfully left the senior eligible ranks quickly...yet not quite quickly enough!!!), let's make a stand.

After all, it's only fair and it's just *right*.

Thank you.

Oh boy. I think this topic is going to get tossed as it is the silliest thing I've ever heard

It's been a long day. The wee kiddies were exceptionally trying and I get evaluated tomorrow by my principal. I need to take a chill pill as they would tell me ;)

Peter that was hilarious!

Hope the powers that be think so too though. With the rash of *coughbiased-and-unfaircough* suspensions over this subject lately, my first thought upon reading this thread was, "He's toast." ;)

Well said Peter. You can see that when this situation is taken to the extreme how ridiculous the argument is to get rid of more "senior" competitors. I'm always at a loss to understand why some think that once you are passed what they think is your prime, it's time to go.

While some of the recent activity may seem that way, please don't make assumptions until you have all the facts. If you must know, some members (former or otherwise) here also post on some of the other bash and gossip skating boards with some pretty trashy talk about SkatingForums and Adrian while coming here to use a free service he provides. Can't say if I were in his shoes I'd handle it differently. Keep in mind I'm not saying this is why the suspensions have happened, but it'd be my best guess. --Spinner

Spinner, I am well aware of that and I understand where the criticism is coming from and why. I've sent you a PM rather than respond to that here.

he he he:twisted:

Haven't smiled all day today! One of those oh so long days.....

Peter, I think you have the right idea, but haven't taken it far enough. Why don't we say if you win ONE competition, then your through. Off to the pros with you so as to give someone else a chance to win. What do you think?

Adrian ...

I didn't even know that this was such a sore topic. And that suspensions had occurred! I wouldn't have posted something like this if I had known!

I was just in a silly mood. Glad it gave some of you a laugh. And glad I'm still a member!!!
