I guess I don't understand this whole "turn pro" thing. What "pro"? To me there doesn't seem to be much pro anymore to turn into.

I think that Michelle Kwan should do whatever she wants to do. But I do know that we will see more of her if she stays as an amateur. I don't have anything against professional skating but I think that it's not as challenging in the pro ranks anymore. There is not a tension or competitiveness in the pro ranks. A lot of people say she should turn pro and that she has accomplished so much as an amateur. I don't understand: Why are they being critical? Some athletes, hard that it may be for some people to believe, might just like to stay amateur because of the competition. I don't know for a fact that it is the same for Kwan but I think that it is admirable to see her still skating competitively after "losing" at the olympics when she was heavily favored.
