Here it is already Thursday (in the Western hemisphere anyway). Does anyone out there know what is going on in Kyoto :?:
Tomorrow's (Friday in Japan, Thursday night here in the west) news ought to be interesting as that's when elections will be held :P Wonder who is going to be elected to what
Why do I get the feeliing that very little, if anything, is going to be accomplished :frus: Should that happen, it only confirms what we all know...they just don't get it :!:  Dr. Rogge, help us :!: :!: :!:

According to this report, not a lot was accomplished, except to make judging more secretive than ever. To paraphrase the '92 Clinton campaign, "It's the judging system, not the scoring system, stupid!" (directed at Speedy and co.)

How about a proposal for term limits for ISU leaders?

I don't mind the sport coming up with a new marking system but I am concerned that these insiders are not really addressing the problem. It is discipline. Everybody is walking around on egg shells, no one wants to ban offenders or violators of thr rules. Just developing a new marking system isn't going to change anything other than the "look." Maybe Figure Skating needs to put in a Commissioner such as they have in Baseball who has authority to do things. Governing by Committee seems doomed to failure.

News of ISU elections is here: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-000040086jun07.story?coll=la%2Dheadlines%2Dsports
Speedy was elected to another 4-year term "by acclamation." Doesn't anyone have the guts to run against him?
David Dore got his wish. And Phyllis Howard was elected to the ISU Council.
