Gonna list stuff I can find on the lesser known names that got press in the past week or so (some of these might have been posted)...
Skating twins (Czisny's), 15, aim for 2006 Olympics (http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/sports/4935713.htm)
Margate girl (Felicia Gostisbehere) falls, but finishes strong at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-skate13jan13,0,7395159.story?coll=sfla-sports-front)
Triple Jumps Derail Rosenthal (Stephanie) (http://www.sltrib.com/2003/Jan/01182003/sports/21411.asp)
Phan (Dennis) skates to junior title (http://www.thedesertsun.com/news/stories/sports/1042858468.shtml)
Fort Mitchell's Brauninger (Jordan) pleased with U.S. junior men's silver medal (http://enquirer.com/editions/2003/01/18/spt_wwwsptzska18.html)
Pottenger (Steven) of Coppell, Howerton (Amy) of Rockwall take home gold (http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/topstories/stories/011903dnspoearlyskate.36d75357.html)
2+2 equals quite a pair for rising skaters (Pottenger brothers and their partners) (http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/moresports/stories/011103dnsposkatelede.642a1.html)
Note - the articles from Dallas News requires you to subscribe to their site (its free but you need to enter some info). I didn't get a chance to watch Junior pairs, but Sydney and Chris (Novice pairs) were definitely a pairs team to watch. The fours number with both Pottenger brothers and their partners in the exhibitions was on of the most memorable performances I saw at Nationals.
No doubt: Dallas skaters (Schmidt/Pottenger) capture novice pairs title (http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/topstories/stories/011303dnspodurrettearly.1c57549e.html)
Another one about Sydney/Christoper's victory, has mentions of Colin Pennington - but they get his name wrong.
Pennington (Colin) wins U.S. Novice skating title (http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=6731075&BRD=1633&PAG=461&dept_id=11612&rfi=6)
New Pennington (Colin) Champion (http://www.ctnow.com/sports/hc-usskates0114.artjan14,0,4733583.story?coll=hc-headlines-sports)
Skater (Colin Pennington) Eyeing Brother's Footsteps (http://www.ctnow.com/sports/hc-usskate0113.artjan13,0,6930718.story?coll=hc-headlines-sports)
That's it for now - I'll go look for more later.
