land a throw triple toe loop since Steigler and Zimmermann back in 1997.

Well, If I am not mistaken Orsher and Lucash have landed a throw triple loop at Easterns and nationals this year. I also thought that Ina and Zimmerman have landed this element. I believe that there have been others as well.

Ooooooooo.....Ina and Zimmermann have landed a throw 3toe? When was that. I've only seen them do a throw 3sal and a throw 3loop in competition.

You know what , I think you are correct. I mis read and thought of triple loop! I'll get my glasses fixed. However, I still think Orscher/Lucash did do it. I could be wrong though.

Orscher & Lucash haven't done a throw 3toe, and as far as I know they aren't working on one. They were doing the 3sal and 3loop last season.

The throw 3 toe used to be fairly common in the early-mid '90s. Why has it all but disappeared in favour of the throw 3 loop ?

only my opinion but the throw 3 loop is prettier looking than the toe because it just rins off the blade as opposed to digging the pick in for the launch.

Also, if throws go in order like jumps do the loop would be considered harder than the toe.

Back in the early 1990s teams seemed (again IMO from tapes, I was only in elementary school) to do the throw 3 sal and throw 3 axel or throw 3 sal and throw 3 toe loop. Now most teams do the 3 loop which was a bit rare back then.

Handy and Hunt landed the throw triple toe a couple of times this past season, and Laura also did it back when she was skating with Paul Binnebose. Phibbs and Patrick two-footed a throw triple toe at 2001 Nationals (in juniors); I don't know whether they have performed the element cleanly. Do the Ganabas also try the throw triple toe? I can't remember....

I was not aware that the Ganaba's had triple throws. I thought all of the throws they completed at nationals were doubles. This was one of the reasons why they didn't receive higher marks. I also think they only did double jumps. I wish they would get the triples down because they are a good looking team.

I don't know if they've done it cleanly in competition either, but I have seen a video clip of them doing it cleanly in practice--so it can be done.

This team was trying to get by without any triple throws for the longest time. Without looking back at the tape, I think they did try one at nationals this year finally, but IIRC it was a 3sal. I might be wrong, though; it could have been a double or it could have been another jump. I'm almost positive they haven't tried more than one triple throw.

They definitely tried triples as solo jumps, though I don't remember what they landed. Both are actually pretty capable singles skaters, which is one reason I don't consider it wise to count them out for the future yet.
