After watching Nats this afternoon, I have some "cursoity" questions:

1. What happened to the Hartsells? and the Speilbergs? I remember a while back these were the "up and comers". I know the Hartsells withdrew last year due to injury. Did they retire?

2. Who represented the US in ice dance at the 02 olympics besides L/T? Isn't Tanitha a Candian citizen? When will she get her citenzenship?

3. They said Jill Watson was a Oly bronze medalist in 88. Who was her partner?

4. Didn't the Jon Hunt skate with Laura Handy last year? What happened there?

Thanks for any info--I few so "out of it" right now not knowing anything!

Yes. She skated with Peter Oppegard in 88. Jill skated with Burt Lancon in 84. I thought Jill and Burt showed great potentials and could have been very successful internationally had they stuck together.

I answered my own question to the other Oly Ice Dance cuple--Hindrek and Sinek. What happened to them--why are they not competing?

Yes, Tanith is still a Canadian citizen with her US citizenship pending. I seem to recall reading that she will not get her citizenship by 2006, but will by 2010. But I could be wrong -- she might get it in time for 06.

Handra & Sinek have retired and are coaching (he's in his 30's). They've worked with a promising intermediate team who medaled at junior nationals in December.

As for the Hartsells, Danielle has retired and Steve is competing at nationals with Marcy Hinzmann this year. If you want to know their results check out the nationals section; I'm not going to mention it here because not everyone may have seen the broadcast yet. The Stieglers (not Spielbergs :)) are also at nationals this year; they recently competed in the Junior Grand Prix Final as well and will probably be named to the junior world team this year.

Handy & Hunt split after a rather disappointing nationals last season. She's now skating with former junior champ Jeremy Allen, and he's paired with Jenny Don.
