I always find it kind of amusing that out of the 4 disciplines represented on the USFSA website's home page, 3 of the skaters are no longer skating in USFSA events, 2 of them haven't been seen competing yet this year due to injuries and are in danger of losing their title, and the other only skates on a part-time basis...although I can certainly understand why Michelle is still on there. ;) If I'm not mistaken, these 6 skaters have combined for a total representation of the USFSA in Grand Prix events this year of....one event. Don't get me wrong, I love all of them, just find it strange that the USFSA hasn't changed that page to reflect the transitions that have taken place this year.

The reason those people are on they is they are all the reigning National Champions of their discipline. Wait a few weeks, I have a feeling they will all change!

I'm well aware that they are all the reigning National champions and obviously it's going to change since half of them aren't competing any more. Just think it should have been updated a long time ago since they are no longer representing the USFSA.

Speedy: AFAIK, there is only one skater shown that is no longer an eligible U.S. skater, and that is Todd and that happened very recently.
As somechick pointed out, it has always been the USFSA's tradition to use the reigning National Champs on their website home page. I understand your point, but on what basis would you make decisions as to who is pictured that is objective and fair? Seems the USFSA's method is objective enough and makes sense.
Personally, I'd rather the USFSA's webmaster resources be expended on information, whether it's faster event results or what's going on with USFSA skaters, rather than updating the homepage photos on a regular basis.
but that's just me.

The reigning champs are the reigning champs until the next Nationals events conclude. Some people may get bored with it, but why would it need to be changed yet just because there will be new champions? I'm like olivia, I'd rather see more information & could care less about the pictures on the home page.

Yeesh, the biggest thing I noticed about those pictures is how great it is that they included the national champion synchro team!

So what's wrong with showing the picture of the reigning champions during the year of their reign? If this is what you have to worry about ...

I'm not sure what the problem with it is either. I remember last year they had the front page updated within a week of Nationals. It was amazingly fast considering how the USFSA site had been updated in the past. They have made vast improvments on their site and coverage over the last two year. (They still have more then can do, but at least they are updating.)
Michelle and L&T have a good shot at remaining on the page for another year. I&Z are not competing - but not really by choice. Todd is not competing - by choice and who knows about the Synchro team. They are off my radar still.
I think it makes a lot of sense for the home page to be displayed this year. I was actually thinking that after Olys & Worlds last year they might make some revisions and add some of our other medalists, but that would be the only change I would have expected until after next week.

Let me tell you as a Canadian, the USFSA updates their website a hell of a lot faster than Skate Canada does theirs. You guys have nothing to complain about! I'll take the USFSA's webmaster any day.
Does that mean you don't check the 'What's New' link very often? Or are you basing your complaints on issues from 2 - 3 years ago? I'm finding most of what I need (as a member of Skate Canada) within a week of things being announced. Rule changes, technical announcements -- things that coaches, club administrators and others will need have been updated to the site on a very timely basis. We even got practically 'live' results all week for Canadians (except when it was obvious there were tech difficulties).
The SC site is primarily designed for SC members as another way of disseminating information to 180,000 members and over 4000 clubs. As someone who checks the site on a regular basis for the information I need, I'm pleased.

Actually Lee, I do check the What's New section every time I hit the site. I am referring about the length of time, for example, that it would take to post bios on the Junior and Senior National Teams, press releases on Canadian teams going off to various international events. Specifically, I don't recall that there was even a press release to introduce the members of the Canadian team going off to the Junior Grand Prix final. Another small bone to pick would be the lack of updating of the Skate Canada Partner Directory. There are skaters listed who I know have either found partners well over a year ago or they have retired from skating. I was not referring to technical or rule changes. Hope that clarifies.

Sheesh, I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, just found it amusing that all of these people are still on the home page. Didn't mean to make a big issue out of it, don't get all in a wad. Just think it's funny after Todd's recent stance that they haven't stricken his name and image from their record books. ;) It's a joke people.

The home page was updated this afternoon with the new photos. Hope that was quick enough for everybody.
