This is an interesting article about a young skater who was apparently on the fast track as an eligible qualifying skater & decided she didn't want to move away from home for training. She still continued to skate & has become the youngest skater so far to complete senior international dance tests. Also passed them all on the first try. Good for her. :)

What a great article. I think that it says alot of both her and her parents that she is and still believes herself to be a success without having moved to train elsewhere. I would bet that she's going to really accomplish much in her life with so many interests and such a well-rounded attitude.

Of course, it's totally her choice, and she's pretty brave for "quitting" the sport so early without knowing what she could have begun. But anyway, it makes me appreciate more the athletes who *do* stick it out and consider skating not just a hobby or an extracurricular sport- but their career or even their art. I hold an unpopular opinion, I know ;).

More power to her for knowing when to quit. Sounds like her heart is set on making it as a lacrosse player rather than a figure skater.

I agree with you yogurtslinger...Its good that she chose what she wanted to do with her life on her own, and what she thought was best for her. But I'd always be wondering what could have been...and if it was her dream, she would've done everything possible to make it come true...I know people may not share this opinion.
It's amazing that she hasnt failed a single dance test!!:D

Since she's only 17 & she has already completed the tests, it would not be difficult for her to still pursue competitive dance if she wants to compete.
