I decided to go at the last minute. It was an okay show. I think this will be it for me and COI because every year, it just seems like same ole, same ole. Not to mention the price increase. I have never been to SOI, but maybe I will try them next year.

What keeps me coming back are just a few skaters that, to me, are worth paying the $ to see: Michelle, Elvis, K&D, B&E, and Viktor usually don't disappoint.

I don't really have a lengthy review but I can tell you what stood out to me:

-Only standing ovation of the night went to Phillipe; he was very good in his "Proud to Be an American" program

-There was also one partial standing ovation for Dorothy Hamill's last #. She is amazing to watch; her skating was texbook perfect and beautiful as always

-B & E and K & D were both awesome in both of their #'s...The speed on both these pairs is amazing.

-The hula hoop lady was awesome (sorry, can't think of her name right now)...It was my first time seeing her

-Russian Acrobats and Dan Hollander were entertaining, but performed their same old stuff.

-Biggest disappointment for me was Nancy K.; not only does she not project to the audience, but the song for her first program (Shakira's tango) did not suit her at all. Also, her technical skills are not there anymore. (Not that I blame her...I understand that priorities change when you have a family, and I can certainly respect her for that)

-Didn't care for the finale very much.

Other than that, the other "usual suspects" were all good doing their usual stuff: Elvis, Rudy, P & S, Nicole, Surya.

I think that was it.

Just curious, but what program did Rudy do since he had to abandon the Sweet Transvestite/Time Warp one? It was between Prince and Colors in the Wind at one point...

The summer tour is much better than the winter tour (love Dorothy H. though). The winter tour cast are professionals. Michelle, Sarah, Irina, Sasha, Michael, Tim, etc. are in the summer tour.

Rudy skated to a Prince medley. It was a good program, and from what I can remember, he was on: landing everything.

Thanks, Rudi, for the information. Rudy was skating very well in Pittsburgh, too.

Sweet Transvestite (and Time Warp) is from the Rocky Horror Show (and the Rocky Horror Picture Show) and is done by Dr. Frank N Furter--Tim Curry in both. The stage show debuted in about 1973 with the movie coming a couple of years later. Frank N Furter is "a transvestite from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania." Tom Collins had doubts about COI audiences' comfort level with the program.

I saw it the 29th in Ft. Lauderdale. Rudy was the only one that I saw land a combination. I missed what his first one was but he did a triple toe/double toe for the other one. (Also Prince)

I was amazed at Dorothy's skating. However, she did a couple of decent double sals and a single axel but her double toe seemed a little off. But wow, she still has the presence on the ice!

I really liked the voiceover at the beginning of Phillipe's Proud to be an American routine! ;-)

I am surprised that Tom wouldn't accept Rocky Horror but let Viktor's second program in! I was also surprised that there was a "ninja" program and it wasn't Elvis! ;-)

Hugs!
