I read somewhere that Alexei is not planning on going to Worlds? Is this a confimed truth? I knew his leg was bothering him but he seemed OK during his skating a couple of weeks ago.

In his latest interviews, he states he is not going to Worlds. His hip is still bothering him to the point that he can't work on quads, which he would need for Worlds. He is scheduled and is planning to do both SOI and CSOI tours.

Thanks for the info--however sad that it is :(

I really love to watch him--it won't be the same without him! In his abs, I will have to root for Tim. There is just something about Plush. I don't like. Weiss would be OK too!

If his hip is injured, it is not going to get better by skating tours all the time. If this is an injury , then he has to rest it. doing triples on tour is not going to make his hip any better. He should suck it up and go for it , all the way, or better yet, just take the season off and rehab himself. I would hate to think that money is deciding this, I can not possibly imagine any doctor saying that his hip will feel better and heal by doing all of those triples at the tour [how many stops?] rather then taking the season off and rehabing

Is is possible for Yags to heal while only doing a few simple 3's, such as toes and salchows, and maybe a couple 2Axels?
The audence is not expecting quads and 3Axels at a show.

just basic skating and jumping would cause a lot of inflamation and wear and tear on his hip. it is a shame that is for sure. It is sad that after all of those years, he can not do both and clean up

Rest didn't really help his situation according to his interviews. He took quite a bit of time off after Skate America and before Lake Placid SOI on November 30th. Also, we're not in his shoes, and it's a career and also probably financial decision. And there is a huge difference between touring and competing at the World level. Plush did the whole COI tour last season even though he was too injured to compete at Worlds. Alexei's injury is one which most bothers him during the most difficult jumps. As long as he dumps those from his programs, and his hip situation is stable, which he says it is, he should be okay. It sounds like further treatment or surgery might be necessary during the off season, and I suppose the results of that will determine his future direction in terms of being able to resume a full eligible schedule or not.

This is totally silly but everytime I see the "Yugs" part of this thread title, I chuckle. It sounds like a bad Swedish parody.
