Hey guys. I just wanted to post some exciting news about Figure Skater Melissa Parker. I just read her News page, an it says that even though she is recovering from an injury a while back. She is not only back on the ice, but she's trying out Pairs now, and just may go all the way to becoming the next Pair Skater in the future!!!!! If you would all like the lnk I'll be glad to post it. Thanks.

Unfortunately that site hasn't been updated in a while, and Melissa has been skating pairs for a couple of years now. :) She and her partner competed at the junior level for the last two seasons (actually, they may have been in novice the first year; I forget), but didn't qualify for nationals. I don't think she's skating pairs this season, but there is a chance she could find another partner in the future. Anyway, she did pretty well in her singles competition this year.

I'll just fill in Melissa's results for the past few years below :). She competed pairs for two seasons while training at and attending the University of Delaware. She got to experience a "mini-international" as a pair skater at least -- at the North American Challenge Skate in Ottawa in the summer of 2001. For this season, Melissa appears to have moved back to her home state of Colorado and gone back to focusing on singles.

2000-1 season
Novice Pairs with Kazy Tauginas:
2nd, South Atlantic Regionals
6th, Eastern Sectionals
8th, North American Challenge Skate, Ottawa, Canada

Thanks for the clarification, ella101. I just remembered that Melissa won the senior ladies bronze medal at the National Collegiate Championships this past August while representing the University of Delaware, so she merely switched her USFSA qualifying region/section this season to the Southwest/Midwest.

Nice to see a Melissa Parker thread going. :) I'm a friend of a friend. Anyway I have no recent info on her but I am the same year in college as she is so we both have one semester left, that is correct. I know that she split with her pairs partner Kazy Tauginas, not sure why. My guess is that she'll come back fighting at regionals and sectionals next season-- I doubt she's had the time she wanted to fully devote to her training while she was in college, but considering that she never stopped competing all the way through, I'd imagine she might give it a great shot next season when she doesn't have as many time constraints, hopefully with a new program! She's been using Phantom for like 4 years I think! :) Good luck whatever you do, Melissa!

Melissa and Kazi tested through their Sr. Pair test. They decided not to skate pairs anymore. They are still great friends!

Is there an Offical Website, or anything like that for them?

I'm pretty sure there isn't a website for them. I have never seen one.
