[quote:f7c75c0663="Jenny"]I've started trying something new that Mr. Callaghan has taught me. Instead of making myself do ten in a row over and over again and injure my body, I only let myself try three and make them really good ones. If I miss something, I have to force myself to live with my mistake and move on. This has really helped my training habits and my hip is feeling a ton better because of this.[/quote:f7c75c0663]

Looks like Callaghan already has some positive impact on Jenny - hoping to see what the next season brings for her. :D

It also sounds like RC took to heart how Tara's hip was affected via her training habits. That's certainly a good thing. I know Tara was ferociously determined when it came to repetition (in her jumps) and perfection. It's good to know that something positive may have come from all of Tara's troubles.

Does anyone recall this hip issue being an issue before Tara? Now we have Kirk and Stellato (right?) and Nari Nam. Ugh! It's so troubling to see this trend with such talented skaters.

Thanks for posting the link. I like Jenny Kirk, and enjoy reading about her, but do not always remember to check out her website. It sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders and could benefit tremendously from her new training.

Thanks for the link. It sounds like Jenny is being very smart about her training and having a blast.

I agree with your main point- it's always a good thing that a coach is doing everything they can to avoid injuries!- but I just want to add/clarify: Tara's "repetition" training began when she was with DiGregorio. Callaghan put a stop to it when Tara came to him in... was it 96? So my point is, he didn't just realize that endless repetitions are bad; he was already actively discouraging it several years ago. I hope that Jenny has better luck, injury-wise, than Tara did.

Having met Matthew Lind a few times (he learned to skate at the same rink that I skate at, and did a few shows for my club) it makes me really smile to read that Jenny has been enjoying his company! He's a really sweet kid!
