I don't know if this has been posted but I was pretty impressed when I read it.

"Miki Ando of Japan, a 14-year-old, nailed a quadruple Salchow, becoming the first Lady in history to perform a quadruple jump in competition. The ISU referee of the event confirmed the jump as clean."

Here is the news item from the ISU, but it contains event spoilers so consider youself warned.

Quads and Triple Axels in the ladies' field!

This is very cool, although, as always, I am concerned about the jumps and their impact on these growing bodies. Still, it's nice to see the women doing the same elements as the men - it brings excitement to the techincal aspect of the sport.

It wasn't enough to give her the title, but 14-year-old Miki Ando of Japan became the first female figure skater in history to land a quadruple jump in competition Saturday at the Junior Grand Prix Final at The Hague, Netherlands. She landed a quad salchow and it was ratified by the ISU. "I know that I am the first in history to do that element. I'm also practicing the quad loop, but I don't know yet when I will attempt it in competition."
