I just wanted to say that this was a great show--I enjoyed watching almost all of the skaters. A few observations-- 1) unless I missed it somehow, they did not introduce Alexei Yagudin in the introduction so I thought he did not come for some reason, but he did perform near the end of the show. 2) Michelle Kwan is wonderful to watch live. The crowd just adores her, and she adores the crowd. She seems truly gracious and has a huge smile in front of the audience. 3) Philippe was scheduled to be there, but was not, so I am not sure what happened to him. Though, if there was to be a skater not to show, I prefer it to be him over many of the others. 4) Many of the performances that I have gotten bored with watching on TV, were really good live--such as the acrobatic routine of the 2 men skaters, Dan Hollander's routine, and a couple of others I cannot think of right now.

Overall--good show. Loved the finale.

Philippe's father died that is why he was not there. He got the phone call while on tour.I would PREFER not to have ANY of the skaters get that kind of call while on tour.GMO

briell, you obviously took my observation about Phillipe out of context. I simply did not know why he was not there. Did I miss his performances? No, but that does not mean that I wish for his father to die. It was obvious that I did not know why he was not in the show, therefore I was not trying to be insensitive about his father's death. Being a person that just recently lost my mother, I too, do not wish that type of call on anyone as I know exactly how it feels. Please respond in a kind manner next time. I just came to this board and really like it. I did not expect to get that kind of response on my first posting.

According to his website, Alexei's luggage was put on a later flight than the one he came in on and he had to wait at the airport to get his luggage and his skates. He arrived with about 5 minutes to spare before his skate and therefore missed the opening.

That was for the Roanoke show that he didn't get his skates until late, not the Richmond show. The Richmond show was the following night, and that is the show this thread is covering. He didn't appear in the opening for the Richmond show, either.
