Can someone tell me how Jenny Kirk get's these competitons. I just don't like her skating. She is a good skater nothing more nothing less thats all. I have been waiting for her to improve but she is not looking very good and I'm being nice. Her last 4 competition's have been lets say....... and I know I'm going to get it for this but just very juniorish. I guess I am looking for something special in her skating but I can't find it. Her program's I think, are not very thought out. She is now changing her long again. I don't think Richard was the best move for her now. She has been a senior for 4 or 5 years now. I would have thought she would be much further along that she is.
If she does good at National's top 3 then she might come out of it. Should she finish below 5th AP, Yebin, and BeBe are better skaters than her.

The US has a lot of depth in senior ladies. The past four or five years, she has had solid skates at Nationals, but so have many other skaters and in Jenny's case, her basics probably held her back. She isn't at the Kwan/Slutskaya level in terms of stroking but she has improved her basic skating from past years. Her jumps are showing some more height in them, where before they were tiny. Her spins have also shown improvement in speed and position.
Too bad you don't like her skating, but there are others *including myself* who do enjoy her skating and who are looking forward to seeing her performance on Sat.
Good luck at Nationals Jenny!
Jenny gets these competitions because of her places at Nationals. I don't see how you can call her skating juniorish but not BeBe or Yebin. She is working on improving her skating, and her free program at Skate Canada was pretty good. Being in the top six consistantly at U.S. Nationals is very good, considering our top six ladies could probably all have top ten finshes at worlds, IMHO.

Jennifer is one of my favorites, but she is not her usual self this season. I know she has been through a lot. But I just remember her nailing those jumps. She use to be very consistent. I would really like to see her on the World team, but it does not look good.

Actually, I *would* say that Kirk's skating is more juniorish than Yebin's. But ITA that Jenny does deserve these invites based on her Nats results and 4C's win.

Maybe Jennifer shoud have stayed with the Scotchvolds and just looked for a new choreographer.
I remember a few years back when Lipinski fans were calling Jenny "the next Tara."
I enjoy Jenny's skating, but see nothing similar to Tara at all, aside from the small jumps she used to have a few years back.
I wish Jenny well at Nationals this year.
jenny added quite a bit of speed, IIRC, in the off season. Couldn't it be the faster skating that's throwing off her timing? Or perhaps she's not yet comfortable jumping with this level of speed going into it.

I didn't like Jenny's skating in the past, but she has matured a lot, physically, and in artistic expression. I love her new, soft artistic side very much. Once she gets all the jumps together, she should do great. Right now, I think she is just adjusting to doing the jumps as a young woman rather than a very skinny young girl. It takes time to make this adjustment. I wish her well.

I do think that this year will be an adjustment year for Jenny. She has grown up physically and that can't be easy for her jumps technique. Most of her jumps still looked the same to me in term of height and power. So while Jenny's jumps looked impressive when she was a young, tiny person, those same jumps might not looked so impressive when done by a grown-up teenager, and I think that's why Jenny has been receiving low marks for well-skated programs. The power in her jumps have not yet grown with her body, and she needs to do that in order to be competitive with the Michelle, Sasha, Sarah, AP and Angela at Nationals.
