In past years there's been a gala for this event, usually broadcast a week after the competitive part. Was there a gala this year, and if so does anyone know if it will be on TV?

I don't ever recall a "Gala" being held after the Sears Open Event. From what I understood, the skaters compete in the afternoon (Short Programs) then evening (Artistic Programs) the same day. So when is there even time for a Gala ????

Back when this was a pro-only event (between 1994-1997), a gala used to take place after the competition ended. CTV used to broadcast the Canadian Pros gala sometime between Christmas and New Year's, but it was rarely shown on U.S television. :(
Unfortunately, the gala portion of this event was eliminated after it became a pro-am in 1998. Although I was disappointed to see it go, I was always impressed with how the Canadian Pros skaters were able to perform three different programs in such a short period of time!
The short programs were skated Friday night and the interpretives were skated Saturday afternoon. A reception back at the hotel was held right after the conclusion of the Saturday event. No gala.
