USFSA rulebook - anything on injuries in there?

I need help from those of you extremely familiar with the USFSA rulebook. I've been searching in it for two days, looking for any rules about a synchro skater being allowed/not allowed to compete, or even skate out on the ice for the introduction, if that skater has a cast on one wrist.

We're probably going to have to contact the USFSA today or tomorrow, so if any of you can pinpoint any rules in the 2002 rulebook, I'd really appreciate it!

Schmeck, who wonders how that mess of info in the rulebook came into being - it's like reading the dictionary, with the words not in alphabetical order :??

Renee Roca skated the compulsory dances at 1994 Nationals with a cast on her wrist, so I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed in synchro.

Louis, thanks for the response! Having an example to use in our case is great, and since I can't find anything in the rulebook that says a cast isn't allowed on the ice, I'm hoping that one of our skaters can at least be introduced with the team at our next competition.

I've seen skaters (non synchro) compete with casts on their wrist before at local competitions, so I would assume there isn't a general rule about not being allowed to skate under such circumstances, but I don't know how the rules differ for synchro teams. I hope it all works out for your team!

p.s. I agree that the USFSA rulebook can be a bit difficult to find info in at times! However when in doubt I've emailed member services at the USFSA and they have either answered my question or directed me to the person who could answer my question in a very timely manner.

Dawn, thanks for the info! One of our board members is going to email USFSA today. I'm sure we could also ask an official at the competition today as well. I'd just feel better if we had something in writing, but I think we'll be OK.
