Question: I'm attending worlds this year and am interested in whether a digital camera would be a good option instead of a regular 35mm. Are the pictures better and do they come out clearer with a digital?
Your answers will help me to decide if I should invest in a digital camera or not. Thanks in advance

All I can say is I have aSony digital 707 and I LOVE it! It has a good zoom and my pics are really clear . The new version is out 717 check the site dp reviews and click on sony talk, read what the folks there have to say . Good luck, I went through this a year ago and it was a tough decision, I guess you will have to look at the type of printer you have versus, film developement cost etc.;)

Just be sure digital cameras are still allowed. I know they were last year at Nats, but you should check the USFSA website to make sure the rules haven't changed, since I know they announced some new rules for this season.

I've been trying to figure out what the camera policy is for Worlds (and too afraid to ask). Is this USFSA's call, or ISU's?

Just a curious question for the people that like to take pictures during a performance. Do you find that it's hard for you to appreciate and enjoy the performance as a whole since you're so worry about getting the "perfect" shot ?

I can *either*...
A) take pictures
B) enjoy the skating
I can enjoy the skating and take notes though sometimes I miss something while writing notes. But A + B I can't do.

Answer:
I can do both -- in competition lighting. :D
My camera autofocuses with precious little interference (or thought) from me and I enjoy the skaters through the viewfinder. That said, I don't use the camera for the entire program, only to capture highlight moves, and after watching practices I usually know where in the program they will occur and what I will want to shoot.
Unlike Adrian, I can't take notes during a performance. That involves looking down (for me at least; I've tried taking notes without looking and couldn't read them!) and I'm always afraid I'll miss something.
ps: The only time I try to get that perfect shot is during practices. Haven't gotten it yet but I'm still looking for it.
